I was told that too much cardio can burn muscle along with fat. Is this true?

Yes. I run ultramarathons and I learned the hard way. After four to five hours of cardio, your body has depleted its immediate carb resources and begins to process only protein and fat molecules. You can prevent extensive muscle breakdown by eating as you go, ensuring that you body doesn't begin to break down its own muscle mass for fuel protein.

It is true, but only if you are running a marathon. You completely run out of stored fat and carbohydrates somewhere between miles 18 and 22, and then the proteins in skeletal muscles are broken down and burned for energy. This is why marathon runners only run two or three marathons a year. If you are worried about running for an hour you shouldn't have this problem.

If you produce ketones, it can indeed! You can test for ketones in urine. Go to your local pharmacy and purchase test strips.
