1) The Grand Canyon 2) My 4yo Niece 3) Beethoven's Pastoral Symphony....I know you can't see it because its music, but you can convert the music to imagery in your head.....it is in my opinion the most beautiful symphony ever written! I think that if that symphony sprang into the real world as a real place, it would be the 8th Wonder of the World....... Another note on this symphony......when I was driving a semi truck, I was driving through the Ohio Valley just at Sunrise, listening to the Pastoral, 1st movement, when all of a sudden, a huge flock of blackbirds flew up over a hill and over the road, all morphing and degrouping, then regrouping aimlessly into the morning sky, there must have been at leats 300 birds! Was one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen, in tandem with listening to the symphony, it was like the symphony had just sprang into life before me! I think God was trying to tell me "Good morning, Brandon!" Boy Wonder

The most beautiful work of art in my personal opinion is Primavera by Sandro Botticelli. I first saw it in the Uffizi Gallery about five years ago. I love it because it is so unlike other paintings of the Renaissance era as it is a mythical subject rather than a religious allegory and as a consequence the artist was gambling with his immortal soul and indeed his life to produce it. (See Savonarola and the Bonfire of the Vanities for further illumination)

I'm presuming you mean art by traditional methods. I'm including photography and digital animations in my comments.
I find many beautiful pieces as a member of deviantART. Then, as an art student, I see the sculpture and egg Tempra imaginations of masters past. It's hard to choose just one. An image will strike me somehow. I usually prefer images with a fantasy theme. I adore images with a limited color range and have a lonely, isolated or surreal feel. I love being disturbed, awed and absolutely captured by an image. Humor helps, too ^.^ . But above all, I need good lighting to set the mood. I need the play of white light in a cavern or a yellow sunset reflecting off a feathered dragon's wings. I need the play of crystal or glass shining off the walls. I need candles highlighting the scales of a witch's armor and I need an alien sunset's oranges and purples fading into the background as it exposes its broken moons.

The question is impossible to answer. It is far too broad. First, What is art? Is it painting, sculpture, photography, music, something else? How does one choose between them all?
The Pieta, David, the Sistine Chapel ceiling, Georgia O'Keefe's work, Picasso, Annie Liebowitz, Ansel Adams, Chihuley, quilters, cave paintings, petroglyphs, Mount Rushmore; the list of those who make breathtaking art is nearly endless.

Flammarion by unknown artist. It's the most beautiful work of art on earth. Takes my breath away.
I liked it so much, I drew it out on a card for my dad on Father's Day.

The Sculpture of Venus.
I first saw it in the Getty Center Art Museum.
I had always loved Venus, and I was FLOORED when I saw the actual sculpture, towering five or so feet above my head.
My mother (Who was with me) said I walked up to it like a zombie, stared at it, mouth agape, and dropped everything in my hands.
It was absolutely gorgeous. It's my favorite attraction.
Also, my favorite *painting* is Irises, by Vincent Van Gogh, (He's my favorite artist). Irises is also located in the Getty Center (Southern California)

I agree, the Mona Lisa, which I saw in person. But my most favorite is The Ecstasy of Saint Therese by BERNINI, Gian Lorenzo; but I've only seen it in photos.

The Mona Lisa at the Louvre in Paris. It was just so amazing up close and that trick where her eyes were following you wherever you go is really cool
