Because it's all they know. They have closed their minds to everything else so it's the only thing they can quote.
What they don't realize is to atheists quotes from the bible sound the same as quotes from a childrens story.

I dont answer religious questions with any quotes, I barely answer religious questions, but for my fellow christians that do:
considering that the bible is our holy book which we follow.....You ask a question about religion or about christians..what else would you need for sources?

We see the Bible as God's Word. That makes it our ultimate source of truth. Quoting the Bible is a way of showing that we didn't just make up whatever idea ourselves but rather base it on what we believe to be God's Word.
But you already knew that, didn't you.

If they had read the bible, they wouldn't be christians, and if they had read anything else, they would have quoted something useful.

I guess we think it will help back up what we are saying. Sometimes Chrisitians forget to use their own words and rely too heavily on quoting scripture.

Because that is the basis of their lives and beliefs. Unfortunately, they do not realize that not everyone feels this way and may find scripture cryptic and useless.
