Everytime I drink "brown" pop I get a burning in my stomach. I have stopped drinking it a few years ago b/c of this. Mostly drink water now and an occasional 7-Up or Sprite which doesn't seem to bother me. Just wondering if anyone else out there has had the same symptoms?

Addendum: I do drink coffee 1/2 caffeinated and that doesn't seem to bother me.

Probably not the caramel coloring hurting your stomach.....It's the acids in the carbonated water.....Good for you, hun, wish I could stop Diet Pepsi......

It's the acid and the caffeine in those products that hurt your stomach. Internal Medicine doctors have this no no list which will destroy your stomach, seven up is allowed, so is ginger ale.
Your problem is the acidity which is really high in those drinks. I love to have a glass of Coke now and then but I always get really sick each time, I know I shouldn't but sometimes when it's really hot it hits the spot. So be careful it's the first sign of ulcers or IBS, pain when you drink caffeine drinks. Next time you see a doctor tell him about this. You don't want to end up with a reflex problem.

I think that'd be a combination of the carbination and caffeine.

ITS NOT THE 'BROWN' (CARAMEL) COLORING THAT'S UPSETTING YOUR STOMACH...MOST 'DARK' SODAS (COLAS) ARE HIGH IN SUGAR, CARBONATION & ACIDS THAT CAN UPSET YOUR STOMACH. TRY A BIG RED INSTEAD OR THE NEW 100% NATURAL 7UP!
