ok, my 6 yr old cat has not been acting herself for about 4 months. in april, she was having seziure type tremors. took her to the vet, they ran tests and everything came back ok. she seemed to get better, but in the last month has been acting oddly. attacking the dogs and her daughter for NO reason. she is loosing weight steadily, and recently started vomiting after eating. does anyone have any ideas as what we can do and what may be causing this. she is and indoor/outdoor cat, but has all her shots and has been wormed. I am very concerned for her health and saftey at this point. oh, she also has been grabbing at our ankles and trying to bite.

is not rabies, would have died by now. vet told me it takes 7 to 21 days for rabies to kill a cat. has been almost 4 months. liver and kidney functions were normal. vet doesn't do brain scans at their office and unfortunately, we can't afford to get the testing done even if they did. do the vet schools offer free, or reduced rates ?

Look for a Vetrinary College clinic as close as possible.
You know your cat better than anyone and it sounds like they are missing something. A learning clinic in a college would be a good place to get a GROUP of new vets on your cats problems.
Took one of my pets to one and was VERY pleased.

Did those tests include brain scans? The symptoms your cat is exhibiting seems to indicate some problems in that area, rather than electrolyte and hormonal imbalances. If the vet she's been seeing don't do scans, try seeking a second opinion with a more experienced vet.
Other than that, has she recently had a fall that'd landed her on her head, or was she suddenly alarmed excessively? Also, check to see if there're any teeth marks on her. Injury might lead to such behaviour, and so can rabies. She might have gotten bitten without you knowing it as animals tend to instinctively hide their wounds.
Did the vet also check her liver and kidney functions? Liver and kidney failure can lead to erratic behaviour like this as well.
Bring her back to her vet, or seek a second opinion regarding her condition.
Good luck.

She could have a few things wrong with her.
Bad teeth in a cat affect their digestion (weight loss occurs, vomiting) and they can also cause mental issues.
I'd take her to the vet, or perhaps a different one if possible. Get her tested again, and perhaps have them keep her overnight for monitoring. If they see her behaving in the odd manner, maybe they'll be able to diagnose or at least have an idea of what is wrong with her.

There is definitely an underlying problem with your 6 yr. old cat, it bothers us when the Vet isn`t able to find the cause, first, it seems that kitty might have a tooth ache, or ear ache, it seems by her actions there could be pain in her body that`s driving her mad.does she shake her head from time to time? if so, it could very well be ear or tooth pain or a hair ball causing vomiting, even a pesty parasite or other foreign matter annoying her. I pray God will reveal it and heal it.

Your cat may have eatin a tylonal or an asprin or something like that. Those medicines that help us with headaches are very harmful for cats. If a cat eats 2 it can die. My cat ate an asprin and acted wired for quite some time. But he only ate 1, if you cat did eat any and more than one then I don't know what to tell you. If it is that then you cat should be fine some time soon.

I had a cat that wasn't acting right. I knew something was wrong, I could just tell. My vet kept telling me there wasn't anything wrong. I took Betty in everyday and told him to do his job because I knew something was wrong. I JUST KNEW IT! Turns out she had pancreatis, was treated, and everything went back to normal. Sometimes, just like with doctors, you have to keep pushing the vet. Especially if you know you are right. After all, she is your cat, you should know what is normal for her.

Best to go to another vet. Some vets just don't have the imagination and won't do much besides routine checks. I know it's expensive to go from vet to vet so ask around. What you need is a good diagnostician.

Yes, go back to the Vet BUT, go to a different Vet and get another opinion. Make sure they run a complete blood exam.

Back to the vet. Some issues won't show up on a test right away.
