I think it depends on their upbringing. I grew up in the 60's on military bases. I NEVER saw color! When we settled in America and bought a house and put down roots....I heard that they wouldn't let a family move in because of their religion....I couldn't fathom how that could happen, THEN I was exposed to the racism. Wow.....it never occurred to me that someone wouldn't like someone because of race. I always thought it was cool that I had a spanish friend, and some japanese friends and I had many "*****" friends.
I've tried to raise my kids to not be racist. There was one black girl that came to our yard when my kids were about 6. My son yelled out the window...."Hey Emily, who's that girl in the blue pants!". The girl in the blue pants was african american and I was impressed that he didn't describe her by her race.
I think it's something we learn. I will say, when I moved to a college city...all the men from a certain continent would pursue me aggressively, to date me. I wasn't racist, but I did prejudge that group of men, and tried not to make eye contact.

Very good question and my answer for you is yes. I believe that alot of white people are racist towards black people because they sterotype alot and follow through with what most black people are like and I believe that alot of black people are racist towards white people because they feel they are all sneaky, and also feel anger and a need for revenge because of the slavery days (this is unconsciously) ... and I feel that alot of black women are racist towards biracial women, just because Ive had alot of personal experiences (and biracial friends and family have also)...the racism never stops unfortunatley and never will and that IS because pretty much everyone is alittle racist, some know it and admit it freely and with pride and confidence, some know and wont admit it and some dont even notice it within themselves at all !

Yep, and it's not neccesarily negative racism, like if someone thinks all people of a certain race are good at something, but it's everywhere, so you're going to be exposed to it, so whether you like it or not, it may effect your thinking in some ways. Another way racism is present may be in preference of mate, like some people prefer a certain hair or eye color. But there's a big difference in commenting that, "White guys should not be trying to dance like that," and the KKK, ya know?

I don't think people are born with racism in them. When you observe little children they don't look down on other people or even have an awareness of what it means to be of a different race.
Racism comes about when sinful people corrupt young minds with their evil thought patterns. As a Christian who belongs to the most ethnically diverse congregation in this country I'm happy to say that by the power of Jesus this evil can be crucified!

Nope, I don't believe everybody has a little racism in them.
However, there are some people who say they aren't racist, yet I will hear them say something that I would consider racist.
Life is full of jerky people. However, it's also full of a lot of good people too.

Prejudice. Yeah.
I don't like Egg Plant. I can't stand to look at it. The outside skin, the yellow inside.
I don't like the taste of cow Tongue.
I am prejudice, but I try and keep it to things that are important and personal to me and not general.
I certainly wouldn't deny others their Egg Plant, nor keep Egg Plant from having a good job on someone's plate.
Just because I don't like Egg Plant, doesn't mean Egg Plant hasn't a right to survive, flourish, propser and be eaten by others.
Just because I don't like Egg Plant doesn't mean Egg Plant is bad or wrong. I just personally have a problem with it. If someone else doesn't, cool!
My mother liked it. She ate it with butter. I went "yecchhh!"
That's just me.
I don't impose my views on others unless asked.

Everybody does, whether they admit it or not. Some people who proclaim to be so diverse in their ways and thinking will always make the little racist comments that they may feel isn't even racist

Unfortunately, yes. I try hard not to be a bigot, but the ideas are so deeply embedded in society, that there have been times I have had to struggle with them, and when I was appalled at what went through my own mind.
And, of course, racism is hatred, and hatred just breeds more hatred. There is so much of it around, none of us is uncontaminated.

Not everyone . I don't . Racism has always bothered me a great deal. If companies are openly racist (the owners) I don't shop there.

No this is something racist people say to make themselves feel better.
Personaly, I have no racism in me. I feel we only differ in culture not in color.
