Pap's not an STD, silly! No offense...
it's a test for abnormal cell growth, precancerous growth pattern. and yes, we are encouraged to test other things.

Because this will show if you have cancerous cells. Just having sex puts women at risk of having cancer. Though a pap test the Dr can also find out if there is HPV present. HPV (human papoval virus) the news said that this virus goes undetected the most. Because most people don't know that they have it. This virus is also spread a lot too. It is also always good to have STD tests once a year. Especially if you have any foul odor or discharge from your vaginal area. Multiple sex partners its always a good idea to be tested on a regular basis. Be careful!

A pap isn't just testing for std's, its testing for changes in your cells to indicate cervical cancer. All women who become sexually active need to do this at least once every 1 or 2 years

If women don't have that pap test to tell what going on in your body it can lead to cervical cancer. Most STD's are curable but you can't always cure cancer. Which do you think has the least painful treatment STD's or cancer? Think about it.

You are encouraged to get both if you're sexually active with more than one partner. They do test for some stds and hpv is not one of them(for another answer)... you have to specifically ask for some tests to be done.

The Pap is a test for cancer, STD's are for "at risk" people, unsafe sex, multiple partners, or people who's partner have been srcewing around.

Because the health community assumes you know if you have exposed yourself to an STD. Cancer is not something you are exposed to, it is a disease that wearing a condom will not prevent. Well, except for the ones caused by HPV.
