Some Christians don't believe in evolution because "there isn't enough evidence for it," yet, they believe in God when there is very little evidence supporting it. Why?

Please, someone, read about evolution before you bash it. Evolution doesn't state that we evolved from apes, it says we share a common ancestor.

And, don't forget, gravity is a theory as well.

And let's take the Bible out of the equation as well. I'm sure you can all agree that it's a biased source. If you claim that the Bible proves Christianity, then a Muslim can say that the Qur'an proves Islam.

You're right, I am referring to the theory of Evolution. Though I know of some people who don't believe in micro-evolution either.

People who don't believe that evolution is grounded in evidence haven't studied the evidence. They rely on a handful of supposed "scholars" who merely repeat each other's arguments to the point where their completely unfounded claims start to sound like the truth.

Intelligent Design is not a scientific theory. It may become a paradigm that produces scientific theories, but to date it hasn't. Intelligent Design hasn't generated any testable hypotheses or experiments and until it does it simply cannot be called "scientific." It is still only a metaphysical point of view, not even a full-blown metaphysical theory.

Those who reject evolution are confused and have a very limited, childish understanding of the power of God.

Most Christians don't believe in evolution because evolution is diametrically opposed to our worldview. Either Creation is right, or evolution is. They are mutually exclusive ideas. Evolution was proposed by secular humanists, who had an agenda to remove God from the public square.

Some Christians, sadly, have compromised their faith by holding onto a synthesis of faith and evolution. They call it "Theistic Evolution." God created the building blocks of life, and then let it spin on its own, taking "billions of years" or whatever the prevailing theory of the month is.

UPDATE: Actually, evolution DOES say we descended from apes, among other lesser lifeforms, such as primordial ooze, or something.

As far as gravity being a theory, it IS something that can be tested, and verified. All you have to do is drop something. Evolution is much more "faith" based.

For the Christian, you can't take the Bible out of the equation, because THAT is what informs our worldview. If we were to do that, then the opposite would also have to be true. You take away all the science texts, "The Origins Of Man" by Darwin, and others that promote evolution.

Believe me, high school and college HAD their opportunity to convince me of evolution. They took their best shot. It just doesn't make sense. The world is too complex. Even Darwin said the eye alone was so complex that he had issues with natural selection.

Evolution may be a theory, folks, but evolution is supported in many ways by many scientific facts. It IS here to stay. It may be refined over time, but it's idea is almost undoubtedly solid. The evidence behind it is ever growing, despite what people believe. These are statements of shallow people who refuse to believe us as anything but God's creatures. They say the Bible supports God and several other ideas of intelligent design as well. All these arguments are circumstantial at best, but they use foolish analogies to compare their "evidence," such as the watchmaker analogy, which have been proven to be flawed in explaining creation. The question in Evolution is not for belief, but it is for ignorance. They choose to be ignorant to scientific fact that is ever growing in the community, and they refuse to see the truth. There are evolutionists who are Christian! They try and fit it all to both standards. If they can "believe" both, so can you and everyone else.

There is a difference between the theory of evolution as the beginning of creation, and evolution as it applies to things evolving over time. We all know that things in the environment evolve, but we do not all accept that we came from random chance of evolution. As breifly as I can put it, as a christian, I beleive that God created everything, and evolution is a mechanism of his grand design. The two are entertwined. There is evidence of God, but it takes faith to accept it. It also takes faith not to. You have to have an enormous amount of faith in pure chance to beleive that everything just happened to work out perfectly. And by the way, the bible is the most validated book in all antiquity. We accept things as fact that are no where near as validated as those things in the bible. If you are really interested in finding out more, try reading any of Lee Stroble's book ( a case for christ, a case for faith, and a case for a creator)

Religion/God is about FAITH, which means you have to believe without any "evidence." They don't call it "a leap of faith" for nothing.... you take the leap and believe without evidence or proof.

Because they don't "believe" in evolution, they do require "proof." Unfortunately, too many Christians refuse to look at the evidence for evolution and simply claim there isn't any, because they feel it threatens their faith.

We actually have a common ancestor with every organism, but our closest link is towards the chimpanzees.

The bible is NOT evidence, if it is so, then Biology books are evidence of Evolution, it's amazing how so many people are so delusional, it's not even funny.

Evolution - theory that man came from ameoba in a pond of water. Mankind evolved from monkeys, which can be claimed as your great great grand daddy.
The Bible says that God created man from the earth and breathed life into him.
Which would you prefer, monkeys as your ancestor (which has not been proven) of believe the God created mankind in His image?

How do we know that God exists? Are there good reasons for believing in God, or must His existence be accepted on blind faith?

The Bible does not support the idea of “blind faith,” or faith as a “leap into the dark.” Biblical faith is a faith that sees what those who have no faith fail to see; it is a leap into the light, not into the dark. For Christians, God is not a theoretical abstraction, but Someone who loves us and who has made Himself known to us.

Thus, the bottom line is that we know God exists because He has revealed Himself to us. He has done this in many ways — through creation, through our moral consciousness, through miraculous experiences, and in many other ways. Philosophers have designed arguments that spell out the logic of these testimonies to God’s existence, but these arguments simply formalize what should be intuitively obvious to anyone who looks around and within themselves.

In short, there are many arguments for the existence of God, most of them valid and quite powerful. However, although these many arguments for the existence of God are substantial, because we are sinners and cut off from immediate communion with God we need something more than good arguments. What we need is for God to reveal Himself to the world. This is exactly what He has done. First through prophets in the Bible, and then fully and concretely in Jesus Christ, God has spoken to the world, told us about Himself, shown us what He is like, and called us to be reconciled to Him through the death of His Son, giving proof to the world by raising Jesus from the dead and through Him fulfilling numerous Old Testament prophecies. And that is how we know that God exists.

There's no evidence for intelligent design at all, so these people are just ignorant. People think that evolution says "man evolved from monkeys" because people are stupid. Mankind and monkey's had a COMMON ANCESTOR, you dolts.

Christians are reactionary to the idea that evolution replaces God. Many can't accept that God may have used it as a tool.
