Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

Basically reduce the amount of junk you buy and then throw away.

When you are done with something give it to someone else to resuse or if you need something see if you can get it from someone who is finished with it.

Don't throw things away recycle them. One of the best examples and aluminum can. It takes 20X more energy to make an aluminum can from aluminum ore than it does to recycle the can.

When you do need to buy something new shop wisely. Buy an energy efficient car. Avoid disposable products. Buy energy star appliances that use less energy, etc.

Learn about Permaculture around the globe, see what you can do in your own home and community. Support local economies; organic family and small farms; alternative energy such as wind and solar power, use your bike, legs, public transport and biodiesel to get around; learn about the ecology in your area and spend time in nature! Learn the language of the Earth. Get to know your neighbors and help out in your community in some way that feels right to you. Stand up for what you believe in without blaming others. There are so many ways to help the planet significantly, and so much that needs to be done! There is also a great deal that many people are doing already and you can support: many grassroots organizations of people helping themselves as well as protecting and restoring the Earth around them. The question is what do you care about most? What do you love doing? What are your passions? Follow that thread, and you will help us all transform the world

The planet is going to go on existing no matter what you do, so if asked the way you do- you can do whatever you want and you won't 'help' or 'hurt'.

But environmentally you could recycle or design better ways to recycle products we use. Against popular belief: "greenhouse gasses" are not earth's number one enemy- trash is. The less we leave here as un-recycable items on earth, the better...

SO RECYCLE AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE!

I suppose that depends on what your limitations are. But I think that you should try to do those things that foster a better health for our planet and reject those things that are harmful, as much as is possible, at the least.
