dude, about this time i was in the hospital. they pronouced me dead from liver failure. I'm still alive to this day, God only knows why, but being the stupid *** that I am, I started drinking again. Who knows, this may be the last beer i drink. Do I have a death wish? no. do i wanna kill myself? no. what makes me do it? i don't ******* know. Alcoholics are just drawn to the drink, then cant stop. just "will power" wont do it, trust me. Get some help, a support group, counselor, therapist, whatever.I have a great therapist, she's absolutely wonderful. She's always there for me and I let her know my life's decisions, but she can read me so well, she has an answer before I can ask the question. She knew I was gonna have a relapse before I even knew it. Try to find someone like that. They're few and far between, but they're out there.
Good luck my friend,
and dont take that first drink
Alan

Yes, it would catch up with you. That's how you got liver failure to begin with, and your drinking caught up with you. Once your liver has been compromised, it's hard for it to repair itself. If you go drinking again, this time you may not be so fortunate, because your liver isn't able to handle the toxins in the alcohol. Beer has alcohol in it. Don't drink, unless you REALLY want to commit suicide. You sound like you are on a self desrtuct binge. Don't do it! Why would you even think of doing it??? There is no valid reason to drink alcohol, especially when you've already had liver failure. Get over it. Find some better way to spend your time. Join AA or another 12 step group for support. Get right with God. You don't need a drink in order to have fun or unwind or whatever.

It is your life, live it the way you want. Honestly, if these may possibly be the last time you can enjoy life, just drink it. I believe that death should not be feared. You only get one chance of life so do everything you want to do.
People who are afraid to get fat .. they don't enjoy life. They don't eat this because it has too many calories, they don't drink this because there are carbohydrates and etc.
If you really love your life and don't want to risk of another liver failure, then don't drink again. From what the doctors say, it seems that your liver is weak right now. Just wait until the future where someone will create an artificial liver for you without the risks of failure.

My uncle had the same problem and he also insisted that one more drink wouldn't be harmful, or even 1 or 2 glasses per month wouldn't affect his liver more than it already has. So that's what he did, had a few drinks now and then despite orders not to and now it's been 5 months since he passed away...due to liver failure. The fact of it is, once you destroy your liver that bad, you really have no choice but to look after it by (not intoxicating it for first) living a healthier life...unless you feel 'hey humans - they live and they die', then by all means feel free to drink how you want, if it pleases you. Till this day, I get pretty mad at myself for having not tried harder to convince him to never touch an alcoholic drink again...because my uncle was a pretty good guy, really funny and super kind but also mean at the same time, for not thinking about how his drinking was affecting those who loved him the most.

The time for moderation is long past. If your liver is that damaged that your doctor told you that one more drink will kill you, odds are that he's not lying. Your body can only handle so much abuse. Once you cross that threshold there's only so much anyone can do aside from telling you that you're killing yourself.
The fact that your liver is so damaged and that you are even asking this question should be a very big red flag to you to seek some kind of help through AA and some other support group.

The liver is probably the only organ in the body that can regenerate itself 100% IF YOU GIVE IT THE CHANCE. If you still intoxicate your liver with alcohol, smoking and other toxin then you can take good bye from your liver and from your life. If you already had serious health problems because of drinking this should raise you a lot of questions about your life style. You still have the chance to decide which path do you take, so you may consider yourself lucky. Most of us don't have that chance. I have Multiple Sclerosis but if i knew what i have to drink or not to drink to make me healthy i wouldn't think a second about it.

Why would you even consider drinking again? You should be damn well happy you lived through that experience. Surely you can find something else that will make you happy, but drinking is not the answer. Don't do it.......one drink will lead to 2, then to 3, etc. until you're back to exactly where you started. Stay away from alcohol. Be happy your liver is functioning as well as it is right now.

YES!!! Your doctors are absolutely right. The liver is the only organ that can repair itself...to a point. Once you go beyond that point, it cannot repair itself anymore. It will only continue into failure. It sounds as though your liver is no longer able to repair. It is struggling just to hold on. Cirrhosis is the point of no return and it sounds as though that is exactly where you are at.
Besides, if you already almost drank yourself to death, don't you think you have had enough? Stop drinking. You are better off without it. You have gone a year, so keep it up.

If you drank so much your liver was failing, it's probably because you have a problem. Alcoholics can't have just one drink..I think that's the point. If you were so close to death, why would you even risk it? I'm the first one to enjoy a nice cold beer, but if it could potentially kill me, I wouldn't even consider it. The fact that you are even asking this question furthers the notion that you have a drinking problem.

Why take the f-ing chance man? Is it really worth it. To hell with it, just don't drink. It is a very good chance that it could hurt you. If you get to the point of needing a liver they won't put you on the list if they believe you have a bad enough drinking problem that it would be a waste. I would say its a problem if you keep doing it after they tell you it could kill you.
