I went to see the Superman movie tonight and I ran into a man wearing a "I support the troops" shirt tonight. His chest was sticking out like a muscleman and he looked so proud. I thanked him for his support and I told him I am a former military man. He shook my hand and said "I will always support the troops". I then told him I have a family member who is an Army recruiter near Mt Clemens Michigan and I would like him to join the military and "really" support the troops. He said "But!!...But!!! I.....I....Have a family". I said "Many service men have a family and they go to Iraq". I said to him again..."Here's my phone number....Call me and I will have you in Iraq in about 6 months".He looked at me like he had crap in his mouth. I said "George Bush needs you! Come on....Walk the walk and let's see how you look in uniform." The man just turned away and walked away. All I can say is this. He must be a republican. One can tell by his actions. He's a puke poor American.

So What do ya want a pat on the back for what you think was a funny thing to do to a man that was showing pride across his chest in support of our Military. Made you feel really good to knock him down a peg or two right? Answer me this. Are you drunk when you go up to people and belittle them like you say you do. I spent 15 yrs in the Marine Corps and I have been just reading your little ignorant comments against the Military for some time now and I have read your uncompassionate responses to the people out there that have a large amount of pride for our Military men and women and you SIR are still a jack ***. That's why this great country gives us the option to join or not join. So communist jack offs like you can't make that decision for our kids. And why would you thank him for his support anyway? who are you? The guy Back behind the front lines of battle pushing a pen while the real man was putting his life on the line every day. WOW YOUR MY HERO. YOU are the Puke Poor American. Not the man with the shirt. Oh yea instead of going to the American legion or the VFW and sucking down beer to build your courage why don't you go with a civilian contractor to IRAQ and work there for a while (tough guy) You sucked as K-9 And you still suck.

You made your point alright!! Joining the service (any kind) is what society calls a "self-less" act. You give our troops a bad name. When you sign that contract you are telling the world that you are willing to give up your life for America. Americans everywhere are trying as hard as possible to provide for our troops overseas and here at home. What you fail to realize is most Americans dont support the war or our reasons for being in Iraq. And yes I have made some sacrifice for America my husband and been 2 times to Iraq and once to Afganhistan. My daughter and I lived our lives without him. We support his decision to sign the contract and go. My friend from high school lost his hearing when he was in a convoy hit by mortars. There will always be war. You should thank him for supporting the troops. During vietnam our troops didn't recieve support, they were called killers. Ever think before you open your mouth?!

Ummm..it's your choice whether or not you join the military. You can believe in something, but still not want to drop everything and go fight. I respect all those including yourself who have ever fought in a war or voluntarily joined the military. that is a huge sign of bravery, but the military isn't for everyone.
I would say you made your point, but don't go assuming he was republican because of that. That is a huge stereotype that i could show you thousands of examples of in the Army.
PS: a question for you, what is the sentiment regarding Iraq actually in Iraq, we get a tilted perspective here in America, so I was wondering what the Iraqis think and what the servicemen think.
Thank you
and God Bless you.

yeah I think you made a good point, but on the other hand, so did he... He has a family at home... My husband is going to Iraq on the 17th of this month... Our 1 year wedding anniversary... Our son is going to be 9 months old this month and he'll be leaving for a year, possibly up to 3... if it's the minimum, our son will be almost 2 years old... It's really hurting the both of us and niether of us want him to leave..He doesn't want to miss out on his first real words or his first steps and all the fun we could have had together.....
I couldn't tell ya if that guy is a republican, my husband is a republican and he supports our president, he serves our country, and he's a damn good american... Maybe he was just wearing it to "be cool".

What does republican or democrat have to do with it? If I wore a shirt that says "I don't support the troops!", would that be more acceptable!? You, as a former soldier would have no problem with that though, because you fought for that guys right to wear that shirt, right?

Oh, and a majority of the miltary identifies themselves as REPUBLICANS! Anywhere from 49% to 57%. Pretty strong showing for those "puke poor American" republicans.

That guy was not a real man like Bill Clinton, our last democratic president. Real war hero there.

What a stupid thing to do!

Not all people are wired to be warriors. That's been the facts throughout history.

I suppose you'd rather have Turban Durbin saying on the national news that our troops are like Nazis than the average American standing behind those who do serve.

If you are a former soldier, thank you for your service. If you are a sniveling coward who loves to pick on people to get your jollies, just stuff it.

Wasn't his first comment to you "I support the troops."? and not "I want to be a part of the troops"...?
I support the troops, too. And, as a republican.
I send money, donations, charitable contributions...
It doesn't mean that I want to go over to Iraq and fight.
I want to support YOU!!! And let YOU know that you made the right choice for you, and I support you.
I hope you support me in my choices to be the best American I can be here in the US.

Well, he probably wasn't a Republican but most likely a "make love not war" Lib (not to mention too cowardly to serve). Most Republicans support the war&soldiers so I don't know how you could have made that assumption. He probably thought YOU were an evil conservative Republican.

Thank you for your service and thank you for opening his eyes.

One cannot claim to support an individual in a given profession but not support what the said profession entails. This is essentially a slap in the face to those in the service.
