If the Christian God involves a trinity - God the Father, God the Son, and the Holy Spirit - is this compatible with how Allah is defined?

Well first of all, Allah is an arabic word for God, whether its Jewish, Christian or Muslim, and if you are not aware of it, take a Religious Ethics class at some school rather than making ignorant, and ridiculous comments on Moon God, etc. And if you are still unable to figure out why Moon God was known as Allah, again that was because Allah is an arabic term for the english God. Now the simple answer to the question is that, God is God, it is a spiritual bond between a person and Almighty, religions are merely to lable your bond with Him.

Just to explain this 'moon god' thing.

The Crescent Moon that is used to symbolize Islam is not from Arabia (the birthplace of Islam), at all. It was the symbol of an Ottoman (Turkish) king before they became Muslims. It is like ascribing the American flag to ALL Christians, regardless of what country they are from.

The reason that the Crescent Moon is recognized as a symbol of Muslims is because the nation whose flag it was (Ottomans) were Muslims and took over most of the Middle East, whose people also happen to be Muslims. So, basically, all Muslims lived under the national flag of the Ottomans.

There are many Muslims who reject the symbol because they feel that it is idol worship. Muhammed did not use any symbols to represent his religion, and therefore, other Muslims shouldn't either.

As for your question; yes. If each religion believes in only one god, then He must be the same. You can't believe in one god and say, 'My God is better than your God'. That would be illogical.

Muslims also believe in the Bible, so, it must be the same God.

The words are different, especially because "Allah" is meant to denote neither male nor female, the highest being beyond human form. Concepts are different as well, but there are more similarities than differences. Both the Christian God and Muslim Allah in their respective scriptures reward the faithful and kind and punish the sinful.

In prayer, in life, they are absolutely the same God.

The Arab moon god was called HUBAL. He was also the deity they turned to for the protection of their caravans and such.

Jews and Muslims worship the same god, no question. Jewish and Muslim thinkers have long held that anyone who believes the following believes in God:

1-He is one without rival.
2-He is uncaused
3-Everything other than himself was caused by him(directly or indirectly)
4-He is absolutely unique

Christians clearly believe in three gods however, so one is left with either assuming that Christians are idolotars, or turning to some more specific definition of God.

no - Allah is believed to love death. If you are a holy warrior you get close to Allah. God does not love death, but life. Jesus came that you may have Life and have it to the full. John 10:10 Trust God and live.
So no they are not one and the same. Exodus 20:3 says you shall have no other God before me. God is Love, Allah is not love. Exodus 20:13 says "You shall not MURDER" Allah is said "to kill all those who are not like you." So no they aren't the same.

sorry...needed to do some updating to the post......NO. The trinity is a concept that is not even remotely involving Muhammed or Allah. Do not let the concept of religious pluralism trick you into lumping anything islam with christianity. Even the concepts or descriptions of God.

i wonder from where did people came with idea that allah is a moon god.this is ignorance.allah is the god and the only god of all people,he is thought by christians as being the father.in islam he is the only god with no son,and jesus is merely a human being not a god who recieved a message from the god like the other known 25 messengers.

Yes!

Yes!

Yes!

There, I said it three times, it must be true lol.

Seriously, consider this visual to get a better understanding: All of mankind standing around our Maker, each of us looking at something different, a different side of Him. Some may see the bag of food tied to His belt and so to them, the way to please God is through giving food to the poor. Another bunch of folks on another side of God see only the sword at His side and think fighting in His name is the only way.

Starting to get the picture? Muslims and Christians stand on different sides of God, but we are all worshipping the same Being.
