Taking an over-the-counter histamine blocker is a good place to start (Benadryl, etc.).

In combination with that you can soak the affected body part(s) in hot water (not scalding) for 5 - 10 minutes. You might also find that Epson salts added to the water makes the bites much more tolerable.

Utilizing different combinations of pure mineral salts and/or essential oils could also help. Birch, willow, or anything with salicylates will probably work best.

If you don't have the above oils then try a combination of Chamomile, Lavender, and/or Tea Tree oils (usually available at a local health food store (not GNC). Here's how to use them:

1) Combine the essential oil with 1fl oz carrier oil and apply to the bite. (Lavender or Tea Tree oil can be used on their own without a carrier oil for this purpose).

2) Add 10 drops of essential oil to the bath and soak for fifteen minutes.

3) Use a few drops of essential oil to a cold compress to ease swelling.

Some people respond very well to plain old oatmeal baths while others find that lotions or creams such as BenGay and Muscle Rub work fine because they are counter irritants.

Of course, if this is very serious you can ask your physician to give you an injection of histamine blockers and that should do the trick almost immediately.

Hope one of these suggestions help (everyone is different so try combinations). Remember, don't scratch the bites open -- if you do, clean and medicate them immediately.

I got really bit up at a church event about 3 weeks ago. I tried everything, and finally came across some aloe vera. Worked wonders. You should try it!
