I am so hungry before bed, but I know eating before bed is not really a good idea. How can I have the best of both worlds? I need a good snack to eat before bed that I wont feel guilty eating.

Any ideas or info anyone?

Thanks :)

Well, there are a few options, some you may not have any interest in...depends on your taste really. The type of snack you want to have is one that doesn't load you down, cause hyperness or keep you awake...that said,

Two slices of whole wheat bread toasted, no butter or margerine, one with 1 tbsp peanut butter, the other with 1 tbsp triple fruit jam. a Tablespoon of each is actually a fair amount. With that a half glass of a fruit juice preferrably not from concentrate. If still a bit hungry, add 25 grapes, a handful of raisins or 2 oatmeal or digestive cookies.

Or...

A bowl of regular Quaker Oats Oatmeal (Instant in packets), 1% or better yet, skim milk. A sweetner like Spenda and fruits such as strawberries, blueberries, blackberries. Half glass of juice.

As long as you think "moderation" you should be fine. No potato chips, ice cream, chocolate bars etc., then you have reason to feel guilty :)

Good luck

Really good and healthy night time snacks to have before you go to sleep are fruit like bananas, peaches, strawberries, plums, apples, stuff like that even yogurt and even having some milk with it is good for you too. If you don't want to gain weight then that's the good things to eat.

If you are exercising and/or weight training, "low fat cottage cheese" is your best bet, it only takes a little to fill you up, plus it is pure "casien" (the main component of milk) which is the slowest digesting protein, so you will not wake up with the catabolic results from sleep/fasting for 6-9 hours, plus it contains a good bit of calcium which has shown to help with sleep and weight loss.

Pretzels, and or lowfat animal crackers because they are foods that crunch and are low in calories and considered bedtime foods that won't wake you up. Eat an apple and its like a morning cup of coffee.

Moderate protein and low carbohydrate! The carbs will almost always be stored as fat. A lean meat sandwich on low carb bread, maybe fruit.
