but when i have nothing in it, it is just a ball of frizz with no definition or shape to it, the thing is, i would really love to have soft, shiny, smooth curls that you can actually touch without pricking your finger. does anyone know any styling produxt that could help me achieve this goal, and if so how you you go about using it? I have been using the same routine for hair my entire life, so i would know no different. help!!!!

I had the same problem i have long, thick, curly hair. What i use that makes my hair feel soft and not like straw is this stuff called Curl.life by matrix hair creme and hairspray it is a little pricey but they work exellent!! What i do is while my hair is still wet i put about half a handfull of the hair creme then smooth it in, then spray in a bunch hairspray and that does it for me. It gives me soft and bouncy curls with no frizz all day long and no hard hair either!!

There are 2 products to try Matrix Sleek Extreme styling creme, for soft hair. Or the Matrix Curl Life mousse. They have other product too, just ask your stylist of the "Curl Life" line. OR Sleek is for frizzy hair it help smooth hair. The extreme creme is good for the soft look. Most products you buy in your salon are refundable, try a Mastercuts hair salons, you have a full 7 days for a full refund or 30 days to exchange. They are really good with that. Just hang on to your receipt. Good Luck!

Sometimes there is nothing you can do to make it perfect. I use mousse in my hair and then I blowdry it. That helps take the crunch away. I have also used the texturing gels and the waxes, but they just end up making my hair look greasy. Another thing that helps with the friz, is when you are washing your hair and you put your conditioner in, dont wash it out all the way and it helps weigh down the friz. Goodluck <><

Instead of the mousse and hairspray, try a leave in conditioner, such as Nexxus Humectress. Works great on curly hair. Curly hair tends to be dryer than straight hair, and with no product in it to hydrate and control those curls, you end up frizzy.

i am right there with you!!! i have found the new line from dove works wonders! i love the texture cream(small dab on your finger tips and run it through your wet hair, let air dry), the curl definer lotion (small dab on palms, run through wet hair, air dry), and the mousse. it gives the curls 'boing' without the starched, sticky feel. I love dove! i could sooooo be a spokesgirl! i also use the deep moisturizing shampoo and conditioner so i don't have all the fly aways like i used to. i don't brush it at all--just use my fingers, or a pick to separate the curls, and until my hair is completely air dried, i don't run my fingers through it. it's hard to keep from doing it, but it works!
