The possibilities are many, and the two are likely to be unrelated. The blood in the intestinal tract may be due to inflammation of the colon such as colitis, hemorrhoids, polyps or cancer of the colon, diverticulosis, abnormal small blood vessels in the colon, called arterio-venous malformations. Occasionally the blood is coming from the upper intestinal tract--from the stomach or the small intestine. Blood in the urine also can be due to many causes including infection, prostate problems, bladder or kidney tumors, kidney stones, etc. It would be unusual for both types of bleeding to be due to a single cause unless the problem was do to a generalized bleeding disorder.

SEE THE DR. IMMEDIATELY!

They're may not be any hemorrhoids on the outside but there very well could be some on the inside. BM's can cause the bleeding just by trying to pass by an internal hemorrhoid. Trust me, I know. It's always good to get a doctor's opinion because a prescription or even over the counter medication can help solve the problem.

I am an alternative medicinal therapist and an ex nurse and if the blood is bright red and only happens when stools are passed then it may be 'piles' If she was dizzy it was because she was probably straining, this would cause a drop in oxygen levels to the brain. I suggest she goes to the Dr's,she may internal piles, you can, of course, get a cream for this condition but she will find it hard to apply herself if they are internal. Blood in a stool can also be the cause of bowel cancer she must get it checked.

Blood in the stool is a VERY serious problem and can be caused by any number of things, including a bleeding ulcer (which can kill you). She MUST go to a doctor. What if you offered to go with her to lend some moral support? Maybe that would make it easier for her to go?

Your friend needs to see a doctor right away. Convince her there's no reason to be shy about it. She can expect that they will take a stool specimen and have it analyzed in a lab. She may have other blood drawn too. It will relieve her mind just to know. And then get whatever she needs to "fix" it.

If she is reluctant to go, maybe the two of you could talk it over with a pharmacist? If she's still reluctant, do what you can to take her there yourself. Go with her. You may save her life.

You are a good friend to worry about your friend. God Bless You Both!

This could be due to be hemorrhoids, anal fissures, polyps, Crohn's Disease, peptic ulcer disease, and diverticulitis. Generally, the closer the bleeding site is to the anus, the blood will be a brighter red. Thus, bleeding from the anus, rectum, and the sigmoid colon tend to be bright red, whereas bleeding from the transverse colon and the right colon (transverse and right colon are several feet away from the anus) tend to be dark red or maroon colored. Stomach ulcers caused by ibuprofen, naproxen, or aspirin are common causes of upper GI bleeding. It's possible that it could be due to hemorrhoids or constipation. If constipation is an issue, you need to add more fiber to your diet, drink enough liquids, and possibly laxatives. If it is not due to constipation, then you will need to see your doctor for an evaluation.

She MUST see her doctor. There are many possible causes for her bleeding.
If she bleeds enough, she could end up with anemia, causing her dizziness, but that might be the least of her problems.
She should not be shy about this. Doctors see this type of problem often.

at any time if you have bloody stool(the blood is mixed in with the stool, not on the outside of it, that would indicate that it is coming from your anus) then you should go to the ER immediately. this could be something very serious. have her double check her rectal area, the very inside and outside of it, for any tears. if there isn't any, and she is still passing bloody stool, GO.
