Batch allows you do the same thing to many photos at once. Such as batch rename, where you want to name all the photos the same name, though they will have a different number at the end (i.e. Me 1, Me 2, etc). Watermark, that is a semi transparent background (sort of like what you see when you hold a dollar bill up to the light). Add text, you can write on the photo. Sadly nothing can truly protect photos from being copied by someone determined, it is pretty easy.

batch means to apply the same changes to more than one at the time, watermark is a semitransparent text of graphic inlaid on a graphic or photo to make is where it is worthless copied, like putting draft on it, or your name, add text just allows you to create text on the image. A good graphic artist with the proper software can edit those out though

They are all ways to copy write and protect your original image from being copied without your authorization.
