If the government's so 'concerned' with safety, seat belts in school buses should be a priority! Fine the school districts and school bus company's for each child that does not wear a seat belt. Sounds like a plan to me. Why isn't it a reality?

I think it has to do with an either conscious or subconscious feeling of freedom or rebellion. Some see not wearing a seatbelt as a way of challenging authority (without actually doing anything radical) and others see wearing a seatbelt as restrictive.

There are those with valid reasons, of course. I know several people who were in minor accidents and their seatbelts hurt them more than helped, and so they do not wear them now. Those with medical reasons, of course.

I think in most cases it's just a way of "sticking it to the man" without getting caught that people do because it's easy, and they don't think it will affect them.

I refuse to wear my seat belt, no matter where I am at in a vehicle. When I was 15 years old, I had a friend that was killed in a car accident because she was wearing her seat belt. The vehicle she was in hit loose gravel and flipped and ended up in a water filled ditch. Had she not been wearing her belt, she would have made it out. However she drowned because no one could get her out of the truck because the seat belt locked.

yeah, why don't schoolbuses have them for kids, the driver has to wear one, why not the children?,... and for a grown adult to be told he has to wear a seatbelt, is stupid. if someone wants to hurt their ownself, or risk hurting their self, then let them. cops have better things to do ,than worry about whether a person is buckled up. i understand for the back seat though, as that person (if there is someone in front of them) could shoot forward in a car wreck, so they should be made to wear a belt if the driver in front of them wants them to. but other than that , just make it mandatory for children...( and schoolbuses) and leave the adults to make their own decisions, even if they aren't good ones.

Laziness... but whats this about having money? A person should buckle their seat belts regardless of their financial situation.

I won't wear one I don't care what the fine is,
I am not comfortable with one on
Every day the government takes some of your freedom by telling you what to do.
Do they really need to protect us every second of the day?

Because they are in a hurry, they think they will be fine. Why do people drink and Drive? Why do people jay-walk etc ............As long as people live fast pace lives they will forget to buckle up
