It cost me $199 and seemed to have all the specifics I was looking for.

Its a Polaroid, and even though that's not as reputable (in digital terms) as a Canon, it seems like a good choice.

I've yet to open it, though. Do you concur with my assement that I got a good camera for a good price?

The old Polaroid company was bought out in 2005, and looks like it has changed into just a sales and marketing company.

This isn't necessarily bad; lots of camera companies outsource their manufacturing to China and other places.

The camera itself has good specifications for $199. But there is some risk that the quality is not as good as the specs. We just don't know. I cannot find any professional reviews of Polaroid cameras after 2004.

The new Polaroid is still offering lots of different products, including high quality scientific equipment. That's good.

So that is it - there is more risk than with a brand that has an ongoing good reputation. But Polaroid's new owners may be making a legitimate attempt to reestablish the Polaroid brand, and be offering a decent product at a good price. Or not...

Polaroid is not the same company it used to be. I believe if you search on the box, you should come across the words,"This camera is not manufacured or warranteed by Polaroid Corp." You may also find,"The name 'Polaoid' used under licence from Polaroid Corp."
It's a Chinese made product and probably not woth the $199 you paid, but if it does the job, then it's worth it.
