Mine was accidently killed in the house three weeks ago. He was only 2 months old. CatFancy Magazine August issue 2006 (you have to subscribe to get this issue this early) has a good acticle in it called "Your Grieving Friend". There are several stages that a person will go through - shock, anger, denial, depression, guilt, and acceptance. Acceptance is when you can look back on the good times without falling apart. Talking about the cat to others find someone that will really listen to you. As a co-worker told me the other day, "You knew your kitty better then anyone it is hard to find someone to talk to because pets only have so many people that they associate with and so finding someone to really listen to you, cry with you, will help some!
I'm sorry about your loss!!

I think you are dealing with bigger issues if this has been a while since the incident. I know how painful losing a pet is and it does take time. If you are hanging on to this for a long time though you might need to wonder if you are not blaming your father. You need to start by forgiving your dad, if this was his only mistake.

You will always remember the pets that you had in the past, maybe you had to give him away or the pet died as yours did.
I got a different pet and I feel better now. Get a new one!, You'll see, he will keep you busy, your will feel happier. I think it's a good therapy!

Maybe you should talk to your dad about it and see how he is feeling. Maybe by talking to him about it you might find closure. Perhaps you could also write down everything you are feeling and thinking and then rip up the letter once you have let everything out. This has helped me in the past. Sorry about what happened....that had to be difficult on you.

I'm sorry! It happens sometimes, and I'm sorry it was your dad. he must feel bad too. Get a pair of kittens. They'll never replace your favorite old cat, but you will have some new friends to look after and to love.

awww :-( so sad... 2 of my cats died MOLLY:ran over OPIE: board fell on him when we was a kitten...I felt really really sad when they died. but after a while you learn to deal with it and most of the pain goes away... if waiting doesn't help try getting involved with activitys to keep your mind of you poor kitty.
