Arbor Mist.

If your boyfriends parents drink even marginal wines, Arbor Mist would be an insult.

Champagne is not just for special occasions. I drink it just like regular wine and match it to food courses. I even have all Champagne dinners occasionally. Champagne from appetizers through to dessert. Between the 2, I'd vote for Champagne - Schramsberg Blanc de Noirs. It's around $30.

Please, if your boyfriend's parents know *anything* about wine, have someone help you. You'll need to spend more than $4.99 a bottle to not look stupid. If you are on a budget, look at Cycles Gladiator Syrah, House Red Wine, Six Prong Red, Pepi Sangiovese, Amberhill Cabernet, and Chiaramonte. All are under or close to $15, but have fabulous flavour and could go with virtually any food.

If you want to impress them and can spend closer to $30-$40, go with the bubbly above or a nice Raymond Cabernet, Archery Summit Pinot Noir (cuvee), E Guigal Chateauneuf Des Pape, Goose Ridge 2002 Syrah, Fontallero or something else the wine store recommends that can match to your food.

Good luck to you in your dinner.

Is this a meet the parents dinner or just a get together. I just had a wine consultant give Arbor Mist a 5 thumbs down rating. There are many good wines that are also inexpensive. If your state has a liquor control operation that also sells the products, one of their store employees should be able to help you out. Wine shops will also help although they will probably push their products.

I don't know what you plan to serve, but a good Chianti goes with just about anything (except maybe Chinese). It's not Champagne or Arbor Mist, but both of those are usually pretty sweet and not suitable with food.

Champagne is overrated. It's like Ginger Ale with a whiff of booze in it.
Arbor Mist is much tastier, and goes with more dishes. It's like Nehi with a kick.

if you are new to wine, then arbor mist would be a good starting point. since you are meeting your future in-laws, a champagne would be more appropriate.

Unless you know they drink, I'd skip the booze.....especially if it is the first time you are meeting with them.

If you know they drink, have on hand whichever spirit they prefer instead of only those options.....

If they like wine, go to a wine shop and ask for help selecting something to go with the meal you are planning.

Good luck!
