I need to start working out but can't motivate myself. This is actually pretty sad considering I have access to a gym for free and plenty of free time to do it.

I'd also like to start trying to write but can't find it in me to do so. Part of this is trying to figure out how to organize my thoughts and part is just finding it in me to get started.

Check out www.hufa.org - especially the symptoms page.

Your lack of motivation may be due to a low blood sugar condition.

Working out: Just do it. (Like nike). Do something fun....light jogging, or walking around for a half hour. I do not know your fitness level but it seems you are starting out. Look at yourself in the mirror and see what you would like to change. Not saying there is anything but if you see it see if you can change it ya know? I do that. I work out 3-5 weeks and cardio as well. You have to want to do it. Don't start out all crazy. You will quit fast. Take baby steps. Give yourself a goal.

Writing: Take a writing class at a local community college. So you the basics. At least you can have an idea to start from.

Good luck.

By the way, working out: Eat write too. I will suggest Men's Health magazine. I use this mag and I get some good tips from it.

Working out = Set yourself atainable goals. (lose 10 lbs, drop a dress size, get in bathing suit shape by August) Getting an exercise buddy definitely helps.

Writing = Keep a notepad/journal with you and jot down notes. Keep a journal by your bed so that you can jot down thoughts or ideas in the middle of the night if the moment arises. DON'T force yourself to write. That is when "Writer's Block" happens. Just let it come.

I have recently started on issue #1 myself and the key for me was to get a workout buddy (who was more serious then I) to keep me motivated AND accountable.

I also write, and I keep a notebook with me at all times and write my thoughts. Many times I outline what I want to write about and sit down with the thoughts that have been accruing all week and put them into a newsletter.

Check out Buddy Slim, it is a weight loss support board and you can also keep a blog which will assist you with your writing.
