Do guys prefer smart girls that have high education and higher status? or do guys prefer girls that are somewhat lower than them? If they do meet a girl that is more successful, does it show that they are trying their best to "beat" you?

That all depends on the guy. Not all guys like upper-class girls, then again, not all guys like girls that are lower than themselves. I prefer a girl who is going to make something of herself, while a lot of my friends prefer girls who will rely entirely upon them.

at a certain young age they dont care about education or moral status. just the looks. but you do get some nice guys that will like girls for there great personality.

I have a BS in Engineering. I would not mind dating a woman who has PhD. I know that I am on same level of intelligence. So it matters not to me. I am even willing to date someone who is slightly smarter(but not likely as I rank in the top 8-5% IQ wise)

What really matters is how she treats me. Is the smarter one a btch? Is the lower one plain stupid and a drag to talk to?
Or
Is the smarter one really fun to engage in conversation and is sweet?
The lower one may not know much, but who cares, we get along great!
No woman is smarter than me, so it is hard to answer just for myself.

I think that any man that is worth keeping will respect a well educated woman. And any woman that is worth respect will know that education is important, not only for herself, but also for her future family (if he is worth keeping, a family is soon to follow)

the most important thing, imo, is a sence of humor. it takes a smart person to be funny and if you can make people laugh you will do just fine.
