Eliminated I mean that we would still follow the teachings of all religions because all prophets (Buddha, Jesus, Muhammad etc...) all had great teachings and we took all of these and gave them names. Now all we fight about is money and religion.

Rather all those doing these things Rev.22:15 Outside are the dogs and those who practice spiritism and the fornicators and the murderers and the idolaters and everyone liking and carrying on a lie.’

Actually, if everyone refused to kill others (like one faith does), you would have a good start towards a better earth.

I don't think so. Organized religion was established on the premise that there would be a specific central authority on who and what determines theology. It would be weird to think of a world without that, where everyone doesn't accept a central authority on what you believe. Although many of you would see that as utopic, I disagree. Individuals wouldn't be able to focus attention on one belief and would constantly disagree with other individuals, meaning that no groups could be formed from that mess. Without those groups, civilization as we know it would be impossible.

Following all religions' teachings at once would be impossible (even more so) since they tend to contradict each other (Buddha believed the way to Nirvana lied in one's ability to be clear of mind through meditiation while Jesus said that the way to Heaven is to treat others with respect and love and actively help those who need help). Yes, they did all have great teachings, if you took all of them together in direct context, it would not be possible to follow them all (I do not look forward to a parallel world where I have to fast for a whole month, then give presents out for 8 days while preparing to shop for another day to hand out presents followed by a Friday where I can't eat meat; or alternatively, try to balance between following the five pillars of Islam and going to Temple for reasons unrelated to the five pillars of Islam).

So my answer is no, the world would not be a better place without organized religion.

And we've been fighting about money and religion for much longer than "now," so don't worry about that.

Yes and no.

For all their faults (and they have many) organized religions offer both a moral framework and a spiritual support network for their followers.

There are a lot of people out there who would give full sway to their most selfish tendencies if not for their adherence to a religious organization, and who are too emotionally and spiritually immature to hold themselves to a personal, internal moral structure--that moral structure must be imposed on them from an external organization for their own sake.

The world would however, be a much better place if religious organizations actually followed the teachings of their godheads, as opposed to tailoring them to their own needs.

I would guess that the mere process of eliminating them would make the world a much worse place.

How do you envision that process? Mind control? Massacre?

Anything I can think of that could achieve that end would be a terrible tyrrany.

I think a world where no one has the power to eliminate organized religion is a much better safer place.

Problems would NOT disappear because the problem with people is NOT religion it is SIN!
The world does not need more religion it needs a relationship with Jesus Christ.
By definition Christianity is a religion but in action it is a relationship.

Depends on what you mean by "eliminated", doesn't it? If the human mind continues to evolve, at some point we will no longer require the crutch of religion. That would be a healthy development in my opinion, and would be a huge step in our development as a species.

NO because we would be more evil than we are, and we would still have the same sin condition and lust of the flesh and therefore there would be MORE murder, incest, sexual immorality and the like. People who are truly spiritual and Love God do not kill any of his children no matter what their beliefs are.
