Meringue powder is perfect for icing and baking with meringue recipes. It can be used as an egg white substitute in baking. I use it to stabilize my buttercream icing for cake decorating.
The ingredients on my can of meringue powder include: corn starch, egg whites, sugar, gum arabic, calcium sulfate, citric acid, cream of tartar, silicon dioxide and artificial flavor.
Because meringue powder can be used as an egg white substitute in baking, instead of trying to make the powder at home, use an egg white for every 2 teaspoons of meringue called for in a recipe.
I use Wilton's brand on meringue powder -- it can be purchased over the internet or at any store where Wilton cake decorating products are sold...like arts and crafts stores, or even Wal*Mart.

i began making oatmeal chocolate chip cookies not understanding my son ate the astounding 2 eggs, so i did not have eggs. I persevered with the recipe and extra one tablespoon of meringue powder and the cookies were delicious!

Ewww.... It's probably freeze-dried meringue! I wouldn't try eating it, let alone try to make it! It's probably just as time consuming to reconstitute as to make from scratch!

it's a waste of money. it's generally powdered egg whites and sugar. you can't so much make it at home, but you could probably substitute meringue for the powder/water.

It is dried egg white along with flavoring and stabilizers.
You can buy dehydrated egg whites, and you could probably just add some cream of tartar.
It is used mainly for safety from uncooked egg whites, and convenience.

it a powder to make instant meringue....its easier than egg whites i use it all the time in skoo....its extra sticky....but im not sure wats in it!!! AND ITS SAFE TO USE....TRUST ME!!!!
