simply stated the game of "bank craps" (offical name) allows FREE ODDS (the casino holds NO advantage on the odds bet only) to be wagered as a way to increase the amount of your PASS,DON'T PASS,COME OR DON'T COME BETS .MOST CASINOS offer double or 2x odds meaning you can place twice your flat bet behind your pass line wager,where your flat bet is paid 1:1(you bet 1 red chip ,you get one red chip) on the odds bet you are paidoff according to the TRUE ODDS of the completed roll (there are 36 possible combinations on the dice and 6 of those combinations result in a 7 ,there are 3 ways to make a 10 so if you point was 10 and you took the max odds you would be paid $5 for the flat bet and $20 for the odds wager yet you only stood to loose $15 ),taking the odds in craps is the best bet in the house BAR NONE as the casino has zero advantage

You have to understand statistics and odds, sort of. But basically, if the casino paid you similarly to an event happening, they would not make any money.

For instance, if you had a game flipping a coin. You bet a dollar a Head comes, and get paid a dollar when a head comes, the casino will not make money in the long run since the odds are 1:1 (1 out of 2) or 50/50 that a head will come.

Now take routlette, if you think red or black is a 50/50 game, you're incorrect because of the green squares. That make the pay outs on red/black not exactly 50/50.

In craps, for the behind bets (behind the passline) bets, you get paid similarly as what the odds of rolling a 4, for example.

the odds of rolling a 4 compared to rolling a 7 are 2:1.
The behind bets pay you 2:1

and so forth....in craps, most people make other dumb bets in craps, so the house usually makes money on the game.

you have to understand the odds / probabilities of rolling a specific number combination on a pair of dice. There are 36 different combinations that can be rolled each time you roll the dice. A 1 - 6 is not the same as a 6 - 1, although they may look and count the same. If you have trouble understanding this, use one white die and one red die and it becomes clear.

There are 6 ways to roll a combination of 7 = 6-1, 5-2, 4-3, 3-4, 2-5, and 1-6. The odds are 6/36 or 1 in six.

ways to make an 8 = 4-4, 6-2, 5-3, 3-5, and 2-6 or a total of 5.

So, your chances of rolling an 8 are just slightly less than the chances of rolling a 7.

There's ony 2 combinations that will total 3 or 11, so the odds are 18-1

One thing you should always remeber, the odds of rolling a combination is the same each time you roll the dice, it never changes because you missed it or made it on a previous roll.

It depends what you bet on. It's not exactly 50%. If they were exactly 50% then the casino wouldn't really make anything on it.

Like I siad, it depends on what your betting. There are some many bets to make: Pass Line Bet, Taking the odds, Craps Odds, Don't Pass Line Bet, Don't Come Bets, Field Bets, Big 6 & 8, Place Bets, Buy Bets, Lay Bets, 7 Bet, Craps Bet, Horn Bets, Hardway Bets, etc.

The list of bets is way to long to list here. If you want more information see the links below. The first link is the rules and the second link is where you can play online and includes screenshots.

The house advantage changes depending if you place a Free odds bet on your Pass bet after a point is established.
When you see advertisements advertising things like 2X odds, 10X odds, etc they are referring to the free odds bet.
These Free odds bets pay the exact odds of the bet.

The house advantage with out free odds is 1 41/99 % (or 1.414141 %

The house advantage with free odds is calculated by using this formula:
4.242424%/(3 +2*n)
where n = nX odds
n =1 , 0.848484...
n =2 , 0.606060...

The house advantage drops when you bet the free odds
The bad news is you have to bet more.

I think you might be a little mixed up. Craps is not one of the best games for odds. It is one of the best games to play in the casino, because it has one of the lowest house advantages.

Playing the Banker in Baccarat is also one of the lower house advantage bets.

Additionally, it's not the entire game of Craps that is best, rather, it's the pass line bet in Craps that's good. The game of Craps itself is filled with poor betting options for the gambler.

It's fact that Blackjack offers the best odds for the player. It too, offers fun, and excitement, but mostly it offers your personal decisions, and does not leave the odds up to the toss of the dice. As you can tell, I prefer a fun Blackjack table with a friendly dealer.
