Dropping out may offer immediate temporary relief, but later the regrets will set in and all they'll forsee is a gloomy future.

I am saddened by the lack of support provided to teens with severe emotional issues by the schools. Unfortunately, most regular education teachers and administrators do not have adequate training, and see these things as purely a matter of willpower. What is really needed is medication, counselling, and low-stress hands-on learning experiences for a while until the person starts to heal... which can take a while.

The worst thing is that a high school diploma makes life so much easier... lots of stress now to help reduce a whole ton of stress later in life. So much rides on it. It IS possible to do well as an adult without it... but it takes a whole bunch more work to get there.

The way u hv critically analyzed yr case, seems u r quite intelligent. So consider / read up more on these : 1. Wait it out. U r now entering peak hormonal swing. It does cause unpredictable emotional swings - depression for some to ecstasy for some. Eventually the hormonal swing will slow down & yr brain will teach itself to handle it without overload. In other words, u will "mature". 2. If u do not hv any physical handicap, u could try hard labour - like running. The enhanced metabolism will help to smoothen out excessive influence of hormones and improve yr feeling of well being, apart from yr health & figure. 3. Can u check if u r growing allergic to something, which is preventing / slowing down absorption of some essential nutrients in yr body? The simplest start could be to watch yrself - does yr depression go up or down if u eat / don't eat something? 4. Brooding too much over yr depression will depress u more. Hv u tried to tell yrself - to hell with it? The way u hv analyzed yrself, hv u ever analyzed a friend who always seem happy & compared with yrself?

if high school is the main cause of the kids depression then by all means they should drop out. but they should still continue there education with their parents support and encouragement, which is very possible from home. they don't have to lose their friends (unless they are the problem) they can get their education with on-line curriculum and get a regular diploma. anti-depressants actually increase the suicide rate, i would avoid them.

Personally I think no one should drop out of high school. High school may seem tough and may drive you into depression but if you just try and do your best it is a great social and learning experience and the best way to have a boost in life. There are several ways to help and treat depression and teachers should always be willing to give their support.

Kids need attention when they begin their social life because this time they can see what kind of life other kids have. They must not be left to feel insecure and outcast. A child must be made to feel that he/she is loved and cared for without conditions.

If the kid is happy and satisfied with his/her life and also well guided, going to school is not a problem.

what do I think of them? I think I feel bad for them, all the things they'll miss out on, even if it is for the best.
