Drinking alcohol during pregnancy can cause fetal alcohol syndrome in the child. It doesn't cause alcoholism.

However, the tendency toward alcoholism is genetic; alcoholics tend to be children of alcoholics.

Basically when the mother drinks during pregnancy, the child is also drinking. I know for sure the child has a chance of the disorder called Fetal Alcohol Syndrome or Alcohol-Related Neurodevelopmental Disorder. Check the center for disease control and prevention for articles.

There's lots of research on this subject. The biggest risk with mothers who drink while pregnant is Fetal Alcohol Syndrome. It leads to brain damage, low birth weight and a bunch of long-term problems for the child.

I dont know yet if there have been proven that idea... i guess it is not scientific but rather social issue. if the mother is drinking alcohol or alcoholic drinks and during the growing up years of the child he has seen or witnessing it. their is a big possibility that the child might grow up alcoholic...

The child can get Fetal Alcohol Sydrome, if they drink too much, it safe to not drink at all

My mom did, with both me and her brother, and we both have disailibilties ( i don't know if that why we have disaibilties, but i believe that's why)

i'm think it won't cause the child be be a acohlic, but it could cause psyhical problem with the child

Can cause the child be be premature

so i suggest not drink at all

r u an alcoholic? if so, yes it is a bad thing to drink alcohol or any sort. i don't know about it making ur child an alcoholic when he/she is older, but u should consider not drinking any at this time. at least think about the baby i'm sure u want a healthy baby; so please don't take any alcohol beverages while pregant.

no but their is a whole lot of birth defects such as mental retardation. ac holism is genetic so this could lead to some statistics that would make a scientific study of this hard to do.
