A few things:
Chew gum
Suck on a sweet
yawn
hold nose and blow.
All these will equalise the pressure. Earplugs won't do anything.

Try chewing gum. This works for me. When I was in the military I used to make alot of landing and taking off anf this always seemed to help.

Use the Valsalva method, it works all of the time. You pinch your nose closed while trying to blow it. Do it gently until you feel the release of pressure in you ears . If you do it too hard, it will cause a sharp pain to your eardrums. I have taught it to many people including my 4 year old daughter.

If they are the kind that last a couple days after.. try taking a decongestant and also get earplug from the drug store that are made for air travel... if that doesn't help see your doctor and they will prescribe something.. hope this helps..

Almost everyone gets it. It is due to depressurization of the cabin. I used ear plugs and chewed gum. It doesn't relieve it completely but minimizes the ache a lot.

Suck a hard candy. The feeling you're experiencing is being caused by the gradual change in pressure in the cabin. Sucking a hard candy has always worked for me,

Get earplugs that bleed the pressure slowly. Or chew gum on the descent.

chew gum or chew something. if u have nothiung to chew, u can pretend ur chewing & move your mouth, but it wont help as much. also, focus your mind on something so u dont think about your earache.

My wife gets terrible headaches from the pressure changes during flights unless she uses special earplugs. I believe they are called "Earplanes", but I could be wrong.
