Hi neighbor! I'm in Baton Rouge, and I love to visit Destin, Florida. It should only be about 3-4 hours away from you. The water is clear and the sand is white. There's a Hampton Inn there that's undergoing renovation. When I was there a couple of months ago, we got a newly re-done room for the pre-renovation price. So nice.

Also, there's an awesome restaurant nearby that hotel and right on the beach called The Back Porch. Oh, and Molly McGuire's is excellent too. There's a lot to do, or you can just sit on the beach all day.

That could depend on some minor issues being addressed(I am Owner of a Travel Agency):

1-Looking for a Hotel? A B&B? Just yourself, you and someone else? Your family?
2-How far do you want to go from New Orleans? Since you mention long weekend, TX, MS are good possibilities.
3-Your Travel Budget?

Theres lots of possibilities, depending on those 3 minor issues being somewhat resolved. If you could kindly either call, email me at: indysteve1563@yahoo.com, or reach me through Yahoo Messenger with your ideas, I can see what is doable for you that is both time and cost-efficient.
