Religious beliefs are those which ring truest to your heart, or that which you have been raised in. I don't like to use the word brainwashed, because it is very very harsh, but in essence, that is what all parents with strong religious beliefs do to their children; be they Christian, Jewish, Muslim, etc…
I personally have an issue with Judeo-Christian belief systems, but feel that if that is what someone wants to believe it is their right. My family was/is very religious in the Christian traditions but raised me to find my own answers. I searched through many traditions and found myself a comfortable place. It does require a little effort to get through the religious dogma, and in the end, you find that most religious beliefs essentially agree in principle, but differ in their execution, but it's worth the journey.
Yes, Christianity is the #1 religious practice on the earth, but what most people miss is that only accounts for 33% of the worlds population. That means, according to Christian beliefs that 67% of all the people living today will be in hell after this trip. There’s where I have an issue and I think that’s pretty much where you are coming from as well. ;)
Science is, and will always be our best guess at the time. Less than 75 years ago, it was a common practice to shove an ice pick into the eye socket of mental patients to "cure" them... At one point, the earth was the center of the solar system and the universe... etc...
It really doesn’t matter, in the end, what your religious beliefs are. No one will know the truth behind religion is until we 'leave this mortal coil', as it were... So it’s time to believe what you will, live your life to the fullest, allow others the same grace and enjoy this trip. It’s shorter than you think!

I'm sorry that you have had bad experiences with religion. So you feel that you can improve the world through love even though you obviously have a lot of hate. I'm praying for you bro. People are sinful. I do not believe because I am afraid of burning,I believe because I have seen the hate in this world and know that the only way to peace is through my Heavenly Father. I believe in love because Jesus was willing to die for me. "Forgive them father for they know not what they do." By the way the Founding Fathers put right in the Declaration of Independence-- We Hold these truths to be self-evident that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights. No offense but looks like the great evil the Founding Fathers were united in fighting was also godlessness, something you have demostrated so well. Contradiction?

God said "Every snow flake is a treasure" -- modern science has confirmed with the help of microscopes that every single snow flake is different in shape.
God said "Every host of heaven is unique" -- It wans't until the invention of the telescope that modern science has discovered that every star is different from each other.

& I'm 51. Big hairy deal. So we know how old we are. GR8! Moving right along, Have YOU ever read the Bible? Did you know much of it is actually History? & from eyewitnesses, no less. The ancient prophets foretold the future many times, & the prophecies were fulfilled. That is FACT, not 'outquoting' anyone.
As for "forced to believe it," thats a load of it & you know it. Really, can anyone "force" you to believe in ANYTHING? I didn't think so. You know you have to be convinced by facts or experience, because nothing else will work for you, will it?
IF you know so much, you already know that there is no "burning." In point of fact, the hot & cold 'hells' are false doctrines, adopted from ancient Buddhism. (Along w/ a lot of others.)
As for the "hopes of this country," (or any other, for that matter) there are none. That is not just my opinion, either. Many others, even highly educated people are convinced that it is VERY unlikely that this country will be around even ten more years.
Don't think so? 911 almost took out the businesses that keep this & many other countries going, financially speaking. 1 more attack of that nature may be all it takes to bring this house of cards down around our ears.

Professor Joseph Olson of Hamline University School of Law, St. Paul, Minnesota, believes the United States is now somewhere between the "complacency and apathy" phase of Professor Tyler's definition of democracy, with some 40 percent of the nation's population already having reached the "governmental dependency" phase.
It wouldn't take much to move 15-25% of the population from "apathy to dependence." With 'majority rule' at work, phase 7 could end, with phase 8 following in as little 2 years.
Now here's the kicker: the Bible says that there are a total of eight great world powers throughout all of this world's history. The 1st was Egypt, followed by Assyria, Babylon, Medo-Persia, Greece, & Rome, which was the ruling world power when John recorded the vision. Since then, the dual world power of Britain & the U.S. has been the only other, & the only one in modern time. (Although Germany, Russia, & China have challenged it, none have broken it yet.) But as great a power as it is, it still takes orders from the U.N., the eighth & final 'king.'
Most people who say they don't 'believe' the Bible say that because they refuse to be guided or 'ruled,' by it as some put it. If you can honestly say that you have NEVER made a mistake, never been wrong, & never, ever hurt anyone, then you are the world's next great leader.
But if you have ever made a mistake, ever been wrong, or ever hurt anyone, then you are JUST like the rest of us, & you need someone, or something, greater than you are to guide you & give your life meaning & dignity.
That someone or something is God, the Almighty. & b4 you say He doesn't exist, remember; NOBODY is stupid enough to say that your home just 'evolved' from an accidental accretion of loose building material. If evolution wouldn't work on inanimate objects, how much less likely is to work on far more complex & delicate living material?
Learning GOD's ways isn't hard, unless you can't control your own self.
IF that's true, why are you trying to lecture anyone else? As Jesus said; " Heal thy SELF!"
The rest of us are now going to go on trying to make ourSELVES better, by following the best example we have; a man named Jesus.

"there can be love without having to be forced to beleive in it by Burning."- i agree with this one part, because as a christian it makes me sad that so many of us christains are so hypocrital, and that so many try to push our religion on others causing hatred, and disbeleif in our faith. Also you think a bit like some of the founding-fathers, there were few that were atheist and thought just like you do. But I beleive in the Bible, i can certainly say that i can't qoute any scripture in there, but it doesn't matter what you can quote. All religions are a leap of faith, hope; the only things that we have to go on. And thats all i have to say. BTW that airplain bit wasn't funny.

I honestly believe in the Bible and what it says but for you who do not I know that I will never change your mind so I will not even waste my time doing so. Let me just say that if this is all there is then why in the world are we here. If there is nothing more then why are we wasting our time working our asses off when it won't matter either way.

I do know 1 thing the Bible was good for; my grandma once told me if you had a ganglion cyst on your hand they would smack it between 2 Bibles and the cyst would pop.

Why do you hate the Bible/God? Maybe you have to figure out that it's not God who is searching for you, but it needs to be you that needs to be searching for God. And until you put your hatred aside, and put your humanist idealism aside, there is a slim chance that you can see the light. You have to walk by Faith, not by sight. You do have one life to live, and you do need to wake up to the reality that there is a heaven and a hell whether you believe in it or not. I hope and will pray that you do figure the truth out before it's too late. But it's you that has to figure it out, you can't be forced to believe anything, othewise it's brainwashing. I am sorry you do not take the word of God litereally, however history shows that it lines up with the bible.As far as hell goes, even God destroys hell in the end .hades is thrown into the lake f fire. It is not our opinions we give ,but what the bible says.I will pray that you open your mind& heart to God.
