I'm sorry to hear about that. It may be only a temporary situation. I hope she is getting the best medical care! How can you help your family now? Can you cook, clean, answer the phone? Do you have younger brothers and sisters? How is your dad holding up? Pray if it helps you. Keep calm and try to help keep order in your home. Your mom will probably need your help for a long time now. I hope it all gets back to normal quickly. There are a lot of new drugs and procedures now to help people.

She needs to be seen by a doctor now if she hasn't already since she had this stroke, the sooner the better. As long as it is within 24 hours or less, for the most part, the damage that was done can be reversed. If she works at it hard enough, and I mean hard, she might get some use or all the use back in her hand. She is really going to have exercise the hand with a very soft ball at first and then work up to a harder ball. This exercise is not just for a couple of minutes a day either, it has to be for 10 or more minutes at a time all threw the day.It will not happen over night, got to be patient, it may take months to get it back. Exercise it is the key word here.

Be prepared for changes in personality. Be patient. Take advantage of any therapy available (physical, speech, etc).
She may recover completely. Pray, pray, pray.
