Should I count 28 days from the start of my last period, or from the last day? Is this effective. i dont know exactly when I was on my last one, but I know it was on the 6th. I am not sure if that was the beginning or the end. I took a test and it said negative. Does anyone have any information on this?

Typically, the earliest a pregnancy test can detect a preganancy is about 4 or 5 days after the first missed period. This time allows the pregnancy hormone levels to rise enough so that they can be detected in the urine.
Start from the first day of your last period. If you know you were menstruating on the 6th of last month, then that will give you at least an idea. Give it a few more days, about a week, and if you have not started, take the test again. If you really need to know now go see a doctor.
You should be aware that stressing over the possibility of being pregnant can actually delay your period or cause you to skip it alltogether. Just relax.

It's always possible to get pregnant while having sex while using ANY form of birth control. You said that you weren't sure when your last period was? Just try and wait until the 6th of the next month and if you STILL don't get it then take a pregnancy test. There really is no way of knowing until you *miss* your period. If you take one too early you may get a false negative, meaning there isn't enough hormones for the test to pick up. If you test negative and still don't get your period you can take a preg. test 1 every week, or just go see a doc and get a blood test. If you have none of the symptoms you probably aren't pregnant, although sometimes women don't have any symptoms until later on in their pregnancy. Above all Good Luck!

Count 28 from the last day of your period. Count 14 days from the last day and that day and a few following it, give or take, are when you're most able to get pregnant. Wait until you miss a period before you start suspecting. Always use protection.

Well first off I would have to say protect yourself always by having safe sex. If you are in a committed relationship and are monogamous with one another I would use birth control. But as we all know, some men just won't be monogamous. You cannot trust a man but you can protect yourself, but even so not fully. Sorry about the off track convo but anyway---
Your period may be irregular. Everyone isn't right on schedule every month. I would test again in another week. It would also depend on when you may have had sex.

You count from the day you started your period. Negative test is a good sign. If you don't start your period in another few days, take another test.

Hi Jessia -
You should count 28 days from the first day of your last period. So for instance if you started your period on July 1st, your next period should be due on July 28th.

The best way to find out is to make an appointment with your doctor and have them do a blood test which shows faster and more acurate than an urine test

When you believe your NEXT period is due, wait a week if you can wait that long, and do another pregnancy test. If you are scared you can go to your county Health Dept. and talk to a nurse there.

Those tests are pretty accurate at a very early state. Wait a week and take another one.
