I love black cats but my mom wants a blue. HELP!

Black cats are the least adopted colour of cat, and the most euthanised because they don't find homes. Go to a humane society or animal shelter, and a large portion of the cats there (or at least the ones that have been there awhile) are black.
This is because of the superstition that black cats bring bad luck. It's not true, of course (mine always brought me great luck), but some people still believe it, even if only sub-consciously.
I think you should adopt a rescued black cat, though the choice is up to you. Russian blues are rare enough that there are many who will look specifically for them, and adopt them straight away, whereas the black cats can wait a looong time (or too long, and have to die because they were born black [kinda like black Americans were killed during the Civil Rights movement just because they were born black], and that's just not right).
Save a life; adopt a black cat. And despite what many people say, they don't all look alike. The short-haired cross between a persian and a siamese, the Havana brown (which looks black, but is actually very dark brown) looks very different from the long-haired black persian that almost flows into the shadows.

The Russian Blue. It sounds cooler then a plain black cat.

I love the blues!! There are so many black cats, they all look the same, but you do not see as many Russian blues.

Russian Blues are beautiful cats. Black cats are pretty cool too, I have one myself. One thing to consider is if the cat will be an indoor cat or an outdoor cat. Blues are expensive and might get catnapped.

Russian blues are awesome, but I've had some pretty cool black cats too. I'd meet a few and choose according to personality instead of color/breed.

wow thats a hard one... Black cats are very pretty and interesting to watch, but Russian Blues are a sight to behold. I guess its all in if you want a purebred cat or dont care about that. But I would get a BOTH! =p its really hard to decide... GL ^^

Russian Blues aren't as common as black cats. Both are great, nonetheless.

I've had a Russian Blue before. I'd pick them over a black one.

I have one of each. The black was a stray kitten. The blue is from a reputable breeder. Both are lovely pets. Don't base your decision on color. Your kitten will pick YOU! PS, the purebred has had more health problems. Nothing major. Go to the shelter. Save a life.
