Why are people always preaching from the bible or whatever, and telling people stuff like they know first hand. This is becomming really sad to me.

The oldest person on the computer right now lets just say is 85 yrs old. NO ONE know where the bible came from, NO ONE know rather it's the truth or not.

No one has any other special ump in them than the next human being. We all have sex, cuss, laugh, and cry just like the next person.

Okay I know I'm going to get a lot of FAITH responses. Faith in what? I mean I know I'm going to hear Jesus or Allauh or whatever. But why aren't people being real with themselves.

As corrupted as this world is. Honestly think that who and whatever it is you are believinging in, would honestly hold you against you for not believing in something that you have NO way of knowing it was real.

The story about Moses parting the Red Sea. Now lets be honest here. Has there been any human today that performs a inkling of a move like

Some people don't need to feel like they have been logically convinced of something. They are perfectly content to just accept what people tell them, because, as far as their concerned, if everyone else believes it, it must be true. Personally I find this type of thinking repulsive.

It's ALL about faith. Not sure what religion you follow. But religion (of any kind) was made to guide mankind. You say no one knows where the Bible came from? Have you tried looking where it came from or what the truth really is? A Human afterall has an inquisitive personality, especially when it comes to faith. You have all the resources and more to find out what is real and what is the atcual truth, provided you want to know.

Moses and Abraham were all Prophets and Messengers. They were given a responsibilty of guiding mankind to the right path, you can obviously question why miracles don't happen today. Come to think of it, you're mere breathing and pure existance is a miracle.

Part of it has to do with tradition. “This is what my parents believe, & they’re such great people they can’t be wrong.”
Part of it is people are programmed, by the people that they care for & trust that if they don’t have the same beliefs as them (the programmers) then when this life is over they’re going some where bad.
I feel it mostly has to do with fear. People are afraid to die so they make up all of the rules. If you live this way then you’re going to go to a good place (which gives them comfort), if you live this other way you’re going to a bad place (which scares them.)

On the bible it’s self, I feel there are some useful thing in it. Think of it more like a history book with tons of embellishments and gossip. For all we know , 4 really drunk, really stoned guys stayed up really late think of way to get their ideas across to common folk and that was the bible was the best one. Did Moses part the red sea? I don’t know, if I was there in a past life it’s escaping me now. But what kind of imagery does it put in you head. A mere mortal parting a sea? If you admit there is a possibility that it could have happened then you open up your mind to other (what we look at today as fantastic, or unrealistic) limitless wonders in the world around you.

i'm not going to tell you to repent and ask god for forgiveness and to just beleive the bible like many others might. yes i do hope you do this but it is your choice. many people believe very strongly and we feel a great connection with our God. It does seem sort of crazy to believe in something you can't see or prove, but so many people have felt God's love and grace in a real way that we feel like we need Him. For instance, when we pray, and get others to pray for us or other people, usually everything turn out okay, when the thing we were praying for went against all odds. christians do a thing called tithing where you give ten percent of your earnings back to God and when you do that, God blesses christians with so much more. For instance, i know some people who had financial trouble a while back and they started titihing and blessings poured in and their trouble went away, just by giving ten percent back to Him. God does amazing stuff even though sometimes you don't notice it.

along the lines of evolution, have you noticed how scientists can't come up with a way to find how the material for the "big bang" was created. Our only logical answer is God...

there might not seem to be any proof but we can feel it... feel Him, when we are gathered at chruch, people feel something, and it is a good thing. whether people think it is God or not, it seems to improve their lives and add a peace to their day so why not do it? even if we are proved wrong by scientists one day, it is still a lifestyle that benefits world-wide, so why stop now. for us and those who beleive, the "God thing" works. yes we all cry and have hard times, but not everybody cusses, and not everybody has sex (that is before marriage).

whether the bible is true or not, it has great morals and ways of living. i believe that the stories are true, but whether they are or not, they are inspiring in every way.

Hope i helped you out.

Dictionary meaning of Faith:
Faith
A confident belief in the truth, value, or trustworthiness of a person, idea, or thing.
Belief that does not rest on logical proof or material evidence.
Loyalty to a person or thing; allegiance: keeping faith with one's supporters.
The theological virtue defined as secure belief in God and a trusting acceptance of God's will.

You must first have faith. Faith is a gift from God, once you have accepted that Jesus Christ is His only Begotten Son. Faith is an inner peace that passes all understanding.

Romans 3:22-24
22) This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, 23) for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24) and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.

Without accepting Jesus, you will never understand the faith of those that possess it.

John 3:16-17
16)For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17)For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

Matthew 6:33
But seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

God bless you

Niko, why do you say, "No one knows where the Bible came from?" You couldn't be further from the truth.

True, the Bible didn't fall from the Heavens bound and edited into the hand of the people. However, historically we know exactly how the Bible came to be.

The Bible was translated from the ancient scrolls used by Jews and early Christians in their religious ceremonies. St. Jerome, a Catholic linguistics genius and priest, by order of the Pope, translated these scrolls into the common language of the people, Latin. What was inspired by God was determined by Church council and the canon of the Bible was closed around 400 A.D.

The Church declared that the seventy-three books which make up the (Catholic) Bible was the written word of God, and that nothing could be added or detracted from it without it ceasing to be the Holy Bible, the written word of God.

And that, Niko, is where the Bible came from.

So you're saying you don't believe in God or the Bible, so no one else should?

I think the problem many people are having on this site about religion is that you want proof of everything. Religion doesn't operate that way. it's mysterious, it's meant not to provide all the answers, and it is indeed based on faith - as in believing without concrete proof. People have no problem doing this with UFOs, so why is it so difficult with religion?

If you don't believe, that's cool. But I don't know why you find it so bad that others have faith. I don't own a Bible, I don't go to church. But I have no problem understanding why others do.

In as much as I was not around to see how everything came into being (and neither were you),I say, "I don't know ..... YET!" To assume that some god, my less than intellectual ancestors made up, instantaneously barfed the universe into being, is absurd. As for faith, it is little more than the excuse for ignorance and getting truth from a religious book is like trying to squeeze custard out of a weasel's butt.
Don't worry about what these idiots try to make you believe, just keep asking the right questions and don't accept any pat answers.

Let me say this thing. If you don't believe in something, it is no one's job to prove that to you or justify. It is your own journey of self-realization and you will have to work hard to discover the answers. Sprituality is not about democratic rights to know something. Equations in spritual world are different. If you are not ready (emotionally, mentally, spritually) to handle the real answers, you will not get it no matter how much you try.

Coming back to Jesus chapter of your question and the faith. Everytime you cross a road, there is no certainity that a car will not hit you or a mad truck driver might not overrun you. There is no way you can know it but still you cross the road. Why? Because you have unjustified faith that nothing wrong is going to happen to you. Is there any basis for that? Jesus story is similar. Lot of stories of Jesus and Moses are not meant to be taken literally, rather meant to create sense of heavely power and bring emotions of faith that is must for making any advancements on spritual path. Biggest mistake people make is believe that if they don't know about someone who knows the answer, no one exists actually who knows. How amazing. Just ask yourself. How much effort have you made to discover such people who know the real answer? How much burning desire you have to find the real answers of GOD and what are you ready to sacrifice to know the answer? My dear friends, answers to such questions are not about your intellectual abilities to question, reason or understand the GOD, instead all of your such abilities are hinderance to getting the answer because they keep telling you that you are very smart and if you can't understand, such thing doesn't exist. You can find the read answer only once you have broken the shield of intellect inside you and moved forward on the path of sprituality with unconditional faith/determination. Let me say this before I close, there are people who know the real answer. But they will not tell to each and everyone, because they know people are not ready to handle or comprehend the answer.

I won't speak to you about faith although faith and belief are the underpinnings of the Bible. However I would challenge you to read about King James I of England. He was the brilliant man who chartered the first authorized version of the Bible we know today as the King James Version. I, and many others believe this to be the most accurate translation of the Bible in history. But again, I would challenge you to read about him and make up your own mind.
