Since Catholics believe in Christ and follow His teachings, doesn't that make it a Christian religion?

I think this belief stems from ignorance or perhaps a lack of knowledge about christian history. Catholism was first created by or for the first group of people who called themselves christian. centuries later, when certain groups whithin the catholic faith started rebelling against some of the practices within the church, they branched out to form sects, religous groups, protestants etc.

A Catholic by definition is a Christian. Anyone that says differently is a bigot or simply ignorant.

yeah but you throw in praying to the Virgin Mary, saints fairly comparable to a pantheon of deities, and the idea of a pope that has overarching sway over the meaning of the word and suddenly it looks like a cult.
Add to that the history of catholic persecution of the newer Christian religions that popped up sticking to the literal word of the Bible and you have a grudge over who is right and who God loves.

Catholicism is contrary to the bible.
Every time a catholic person calls the pope "Holy Father" they are calling him God!
The name "Holy Father" is found only ONE time in the entire Bible and it refers to God the Father! They are calling the pope by God's name! It is extreme blasphemy to call a man by God's name. The following passage shows Jesus praying before He and His disciples went to the garden of Gethsemane:
John 17:11 And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are.

I have no idea. I am a Christian and I am a Catholic. I have no idea why some people have this ridiculous notion that we are not Christian.

I've been told its because Catholics make stuff up that is not really in the bible and they worship Mary and the Saints instead of only Jesus.

all that believe in Jehova or God and jesus are Christians
the others are muslims ,and it is still the same God

Cuz why should some one be sent awy just cuz they ware pant or makeup or sandels or earing .
