I don't get it. I'm an American and I absolutely LOVE redheads. Why are redheads (or "gingers") so discriminated against in the UK?

News to me ... I visited UK when I was "ginger" now more "salt & ginger" and never noticed it ... it's the first I've heard of it and I've been a redhead all my life.

Perhaps it goes into the feud with Ireland, and the way that the British historically opressed them? That would be my best guess, since the Irish are stereotypically redheads.

so do i love red hair. three of my best mates are gingers and so is one of their wives. the lads are all brothers and i never noticed anyone bother about their hair. didn't realise brits or anyone else hated them or discriminated against them because of it. i always thought it was because they act so daft. i guess now i'll never look at them the same way again ;)
