from the point of view of the word life. life is the state of a being in balance of energy.
not only humans has life, it's not just all that inhales or have heart. the whole earth itself in totality has life and so does the whole universe should be considered have life.
but if you meant about the ways of life what should a person do while being alive.
well, simply by trying to survive. while most of us people died at a certain age or maturity, it only means that nobody still doesn't have the understanding or knowledge about it.
The truth is we are meant to control to balance the forces or energies. only time will tell until we will evolve to do such. but right now lots of people are focusing on their worldly pleasures like power and fame.

Dude, wrong question!
Don't look for the meaning OF life. Instead, look for the meaning IN life. Some people say (correctly, I might add) 'God helps the poor and afflicted'. Change this sentence around. 'Helping the poor and afflicted is God-like'.
If you are Christian, you believe that Jesus is conforming you to be more like Him. That means to be more God-like, but not God.
Man wants to find fountain of youth through medicine, living longer (but not better), and everyday make decisions as if we are God. But that ain't the case.
Believe, my friend. It all starts with you openly and honestly believing.

I believe that the meaning of life is to determine your fate after death. A filter, if you will. Based upon your actions on Earth, God will determine your fortune in the afterlife. Or so I believe.
