I think its kind of a compliment to be called a Band Geek, Band Nerd whatever you kids call them these days! I was in marching band for 5 years (8th-senior year.) I was the trumpet section leader my Sophomore, Junior and Senior year. I loved it! We got a lot of respect at our school and we had a cool bond with the cheerleaders. But we were lovingly called "geeks" by people. A lot of my friends in high school were part of the "in" crowd and they didn't think anything of it. Although they did say we were our own weird little family from time to time haha. Check this colthing site out though, its pretty sweet!

No Way! Nerds and weird people are very interesting. And once you get to know them they may not seem as nerdy and weird. Take the opportunity to meet and get to know folks from all walks of life. We shouldn't pass judgment on others because of the activities they enjoy. I wish I hadn't been so judgmental at that age because I probably missed out on some wonderful people.
I'm in my 30's now and I recently met a guy and we hit it off, soooo much in common, really enjoy spending time with one another. He is the coolest person I've ever met. He's a drummer, singer, carpenter, among other things. He was in the band and in chorus all through school.

No, but the person is probably a geek. A nerd is someone who likes doing things like studying or ny schoolwork. A geek is someone who likes a type of work like computers or writing. Geeks r cool though. I'm a geek, and I'm cool. Most likely. You're a geek too. In some way or another.

Heh, i'm virtually interior the same function as you besides i must be the clean percussion section chief. i bypass into 11th, and this previous 10th grade three hundred and sixty 5 days I obtained on fairly mind-blowing words with the band director. The percussion became lacking (with simplest 7 adult men and women, the band maximum effective has 30-ish complete) so he became once in accordance to me to play. I delivered and in go back he many times placed me in administration of the live performance band percussion. extremely high quality deal for me. you spot, in my company the percussion seems to both make or spoil the band. we've fairly strong drummers, yet all of us cherish to do different concerns on the section and marching isn't on the intense of the record. i recognize live performance band (been in it simply by the truth sixth grade) and that i'd want to change right into a member of jazz band this three hundred and sixty 5 days, yet i do no longer favor to be in a third appearing crew. Granted, i purchased fairly strong on account that I participated in marching band very last October and we were contained in the accurate 20 crew a million bands on the East Coast, yet now that the area chief graduated (and he became once the clarification the band became nevertheless preserving up) I easily do not understand if i will do it back this three hundred and sixty 5 days. i will grant you with some advice in spite of the actual incontrovertible truth that, performance is going down once you eventually end up no longer inspired to play. And as one extra guy or woman suggested, in case you haven't loved marching for 2 years, you've were given purely about continually made up your mind. If marching band purely feels like some element that takes up living house on your time table (specially once you already play the clarinet in distinct those distinct appearing corporations) and forestalls you from spending time enhancing stuff, like your swimming, that is now no longer well worth it. It negatively consequences the concerns you cherish to do, and that isn't best. once you're making the alternative to back out, allow him understand ASAP so he has some caution, and grant an reason behind to him why that's no longer operating. he will be dissatisfied regardless of the indisputable fact that that is extra perfect than slowly attempting to duck out mid-season or being depressing the total time. And once you already play in another ensemble at your college, allow him comprehend that if he needs you to be there for that, you'll cover it.

I was in marching band and I don't think it means you are a nerd or wierd, its something you enjoy. Is being a football player wierd? Is being a cheerleader wierd? Why care what others think? You wont' be in high school forever and plus, I don't think we are to please man. Another way to think of it is, look at how many nerds are making lots of money a year.
