Unfortunately I have never heard of a rescue that accepts pitbulls. There are a few rescues that claim to rescue pitbulls but be very cautious of these so called rescues because they are potential pitbull rings and you would end up handing the dog over to a fate that is horrific. Most animal shelters would euthanize the animal because of its breed. I am speaking from experience. I have worked for the SPCA for many years and the majority of pitbulls are euthanized. If the animal is friendly enough maybe you could keep it and find it a home. You should call animal control and report the neglect and abandonment of this dog. They will more than likely take it to the shelter but if you tell the animal control officer that you have a personal interest in this animal and that you wish to be contacted before the animal is euthanized then the shelter will do just that. You will be called and you will end up being the final say if the animal is euthanized or not. Of course you will have to be prepared to find the animal a home or be willing to keep it yourself. If you cant do this then the animal will end up euthanized. If the animal is not friendly and it remains where it is right now then it is really a hazard to your neighborhood. If its temperament is bad and it got loose and mauled someone then you would feel horrible. Use your best judgment and good luck.

If the dog is friendly, you won't have to worry about the city euthanizing it. Call the local humane society or whoever has an animal control officer available.
That, or if you think the person has abandoned this dog, go and remove it from the property....and try to adopt it out, yourself. You can interview the people, and determine if they are trustworthy.

i would put her up for adoption on petfinder.com. in the mean time you could be a foster parent, or find a foster parent. there are so many animal rescue places around the country, that i am sure would take the dog in

Well give it food and water. Then see if it is friendly. if you are interested in adopting it then take it to a vet to see if it has any health issues. my uncle has a pit bull and he is sweet to everybody. actually pit bulls get into fights with other dogs because, most dogs have around one hundred different facial signs to communicate with one another. because of breeding pit bulls only have around 10 diff. facial signs, and often get misinterpreted by other dogs

what your describing is very disturbing indeed... but if you can't place the dog ... then it would be better to allow the authorities to youthinize the animal then for it to stroke out, suffer and then finally Die from lack of the basics... call it in... it's the humaine thing to do... and maybe the people responsible will be held accountable... Sorry for your dilima but it's your responsibility to stop the suffering now...

Very Best Regards,
Don

Contact your local ASPCA or a rescue group, or Anti-Cruelty assn. you just can't leave the poor thing out there! That is animal cruelty, and they will be prosecuted.

Take him in and find him a home.

If you call animal rescue they will more than likely put him down.

call around to local vets or shelters... they usually clean the animals up a little and put them up for adoption
