I have heard they are mean but I was just wondering as I am going to babysit a child next week and her parents own two male Siamese cats that are male and un-neutered.

One thing I have noticed about Siamese cats is that they tend to bond with one person, and hate or run from anyone else.

Sometimes this causes people to think they are bad-tempered. But this is simply not the case. The person the cat bonds with will tell you all sorts of stories of 'Oh, she's sooo affectionate' or 'He's the sweetest creature on Earth!'. And nobody will really get to see that, because the cat is only like that when no one else is around.

My Havana Brown was like that. She bonded with me, and would hide from anyone else. She started to like my dad enough that he could touch her, but no one else could get near her without her yowling VERY loud, and trying to bite and/or 'scratch' (though she was declawed by her previous owners).

So while these two male Siamese may or may not be aggressive toward you, you should realize it is likely because they simply have chosen their company, and hate to see that invaded.

Oh, and Siamese cats are mischievous, smart, and very loud, so be prepared to be babysitting three 'children'!

I had a siamese and she was really nice. I had her for a long time. I had her until she was 22. The cat was not mean. She loved to be held and scratched around the neck. The siamese cats are friendly and it depends on the owner. If you give it a lot of love it will give love back. They keep to themselfs and they do their own thing. If you are going to get a cat and you have a baby then I would get it as a kitten. Thats what I did and the cat ended up really sweet and caring.

No Siamese cats are no different from any other cat. They have their own personality. I have had my Siamese cat Sarah for 4 years. This friend of mine was going to drop her off somewhere and she was about 8 weeks old and did not even have a name. I told her I would take her and have had her ever since. Siamese cats are very intelligent cats.Sarah fetches like a dog, I have those plastic braclets she likes to fetch and she also fetches those plastic medicince cups like you get from the hospital, and hair ties. I got up one morn, to find my hair ties laying in the floor from the bedroom all the way to the living room, like Hansel and Gretel.I speak to her in spanish,no kidding. I learned it from my husband who did not speak good English, he was from Old Mexico. As soon as she hears me holler for her she comes right away. I tell her "Como' El Gato la Casa Muncha" Which means come into the house and eat. I also speak other spanish to her. She understands everything I say. Today she had 5 kittens they are beautiful as so is she.I think it is great you are babysitting and that you ask about the temperment of Siamese cats. You sound like you are a very concerned person, and are looking out for the kids you are babysitting. Good Luck and Bless you.....I do hope this has helped......

Siamese cats for some strange reason have gotten this bad reputation as being mean. Not TRUE. They are like any other cat each has their own personalilty. I have owned Siamese cats for the past 30 years. I have 4 now. None have ever been mean. They are real people cats. Not true that they bond with one person either. Mine love everybody. very friendly.

No, generally Siamese are friendly, curious and playful. You will most likely make two new kitty friends. But cats can have individual personalities so if one kitty is not so nice, don't think it's what all Siamese are like. I had a Siamese cross and he was just a doll and was very smart. Just enjoy the kitty party!

The fact that they are un-neutered means they may be a little more aggressive with each other, but Siamese are not by nature ill-tempered. In fact they are often more intelligent, more talkative (a lot of burbling) and more interactive with their owners.

I used to own a siamese cat and he was the sweetest little thing I have ever owned... I guess it all depends on how they are raised. Sadly I went out of town and left my cat with my neighbour and they forgot to close the door and... well, he is in a better place now.

I have never heard this....the only thing I really know about them is that they are very vocal. LOTS of meowing.

Male cats who are not neutered definitely have a different temperament than neutered males. My Stewie kitten calmed down (a bit) after we got him neutered. But he is a black and white DSH cat, not Siamese.

Good Luck and be careful. The cat chooses you to like or not like. I have had 4 Siamese and they all had different personalities. One was very snooty and one very sweet. You will just have to watch them. Chances are if there are kids the cats will be nice .

Siameses are known for being talkative.

Maine Coons are known for their attitudes.

If the Siameses have attitudes, it's just their personality, and not that of the breed itself.
