Does she have test anxiety? Also, when you work with her at home, do you make her come up with the answer by understanding the problem, or do accept guesses. My daughter (going into 5th) had the same problem. She would try to guess the answer until I said yes. So I took over the math teaching from the wife and would make her work out similar problems. When she got it correct I would make her tell me why she got it right. If it was wrong, I would tell her to tell me why she gave me that answer.

Hun I would seriously take this matter to the school board and you have the right to not make her stay behind. They tried that same thing with my daughter just because she wasn't doing what THEY thought she should do. If she's doing fine for you and you have had her tested and she's doing fine, then hun, go to someone in the school system that will listen and if they don't make them listen by going to your local new paper or television station and make them do a piece on this. I have seen schools label kids and there is nothing wrong with them, but because they aren't out going or participate like others they want to say there is something wrong with them. This happened to me and my brother. We were shy kids and also kids of abuse. Not saying this is what is going on with her, but this is my story. We just didn't speak out much or do a lot of things because of the environment we were under or that we just didn't trust people. There might be that she's a shy child and may see things the teachers are doing and she doesn't trust them. Now they are labeling her because of this. Hun fight for your child and look into everything that is going on not what they are telling you about her. hope this helps.

How are her test scores? Maybe she just doesn't perform on test all that great. At home she has you to help her, at school she has teachers and peers to help her...during test she has to do it all on her own. Go into the CST with an open mind. It is your daughter and you want her to succeed, but understand that the CST team is there to help you and your daughter become successful with her math. Just be sure to ask the questions that you want answered. Go into the meeting prepared, write out your questions so you don't forget any. Good luck!

She may have a disability that is specific to math(dyscalculia) . You may want to consider Sylvan tutoring or maybe the Kumon math program.

Sometimes kids just don't learn well in the classroom setting and this may sound strange, but my son liked summer school for the social aspect.

This might be worth looking into as well.
