Because the Bible tells us He is.
John 3:16
For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten SON...
It can't get any clearer than that.

i'm mormon, and interior the LDS church, we do believe that Jesus is the son of god. people get this mixed up lots. do not complication. Jesus and God at the on the spot are not an same people. they're seperate beings. all of us in this earth is a baby of God and chosen to adhere to Christ in heaven. there turned right into a warfare in heaven. a million/3 observed devil. Christ is termed the son of god because he did not something incorrect. He toched no unclean element and become an concepts-blowing get mutually to all of us. He become crucified and he died for all of us'S wrongs. that is why he's termed the son of God. he will come back. on the second one coming and no body knows even as which will be. that is what the LDS church believes. i am hoping that helped.

There are many scriptures that talk about Jesus being God's son. One of them is John 3:16
John 3:16 For God loved the world so much that he gave his only-begotten Son, in order that everyone exercising faith in him might not be destroyed but have everlasting life.
While talking to his disciples, Jesus said this:
Matthew 16:15 He said to them: “YOU, though, who do YOU say I am?” 16 In answer Simon Peter said: “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”
And after Jesus' was baptized by John The Baptist ... this happened:
Matthew 3:16 After being baptized Jesus immediately came up from the water; and, look! the heavens were opened up, and he saw descending like a dove God’s spirit coming upon him. 17 Look! Also, there was a voice from the heavens that said: “This is my Son, the beloved, whom I have approved.”
Here we have God saying THIS IS MY SON! What further proof is needed?

If a God created you then why couldn't he create a son? Christians, Muslims, and Jews all believe in the same God they just have different names and different ways of worshiping - set forth by their prophets. You might want to do some more research before speaking, not so intelligently, on behalf of "3 billion Muslims," they don't need any more problems.

If you are a Muslim you are wrong. You can not believe in Mohammad and Jesus, unless you believe in a fake Jesus. Just because there are 3 billion Muslims does not make you right on anything.
Have you read any critical commentaries on Mohammedanism? Read some by some ex-Muslims. They are not afraid they will lose their heads, they will tell you the truth-you should listen to them-then judge if Muslims are right.

God didn't have to have sex with Mary to have Jesus. How can you believe in the virgin birth but not that God can create a child without intercourse. If you truly believe He was Lord of the Universe then you could believe he made a child by His spirit. By the way Jesus claimed He is God's son so YOU either believe He was a liar or that He was crazy.

You gave a philosophical fallacy in your question...it was an 'appeal to the masses'.....people believed the world was flat at one time...it didn't make it true so three million or three billion people agreeing with you doesn't make your belief true either.
Christians believe what they believe for one reason and to explain it would require my use of the fallacy, 'begging the question', which means Christians believe in the divinity of Christ because that is what the bible tells us is true...this begs the questions as to what authority can the bible tell us anything and that is way too deep for me to go into now. Since I HATE fallacies, I'll not beg the question but rather I'll just answer that that is just what Christians believe, that is what I believe. All I have to lean on is my faith in my scriptures. Whether it is true or not I can not be sure, but I pray each day that it is....

In the Bible, God literally says that Jesus is His son.
That doesnt mean that Jesus was physically birthed from a womb. God also calls those who follow him his children, that doesnt mean he is our birth father. But Jesus and God have a closer relationship, as they are almost one in the same.
Things work a little different in heaven, I hope those 3 billion muslims are more educated on the topic than you.

Simple enough. In the Gospel of St. John chapter 1 verse 1 we read that in the beginning the Word (Jesus) was with God and was God. God is indeed one, but Jesus is the Incarnate Word (Logos) of the Father. An extension of the one true God. Think of it like this. The Father originates the spoken Word. That Word is Christ. The Blessed Holy Spirit is the Ruach Elohim or Breath of God, the power and sustainer of the Word. In this context we see that God is indeed One. Like the Shema Israel, Hear O Israel, the Lord is One.

God CREATED Jesus. He was the first creation that God made and so he's called God's Son. He didn't have sex with anybody.
"He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation; because by means of him all [other] things were created in the heavens and upon the earth, the things visible and the things invisible, no matter whether they are thrones or lordships or governments or authorities. All [other] things have been created through him and for him. Also, he is before all [other] things and by means of him all [other] things were made to exist." (Colossians 1:15-17)

Because they believe that the bible is the word of God and the bible (God) tells them that this is so. There is no way, of course, to disprove that Jesus was the son of God (nor is there any proof that he was), so they go on believing. Please note the fact that Jesus left no words of his own and that there is no description of him - does this sound like the son of the almighty? You would think that God would have a least provided a description of him, don't you think? I guess the son of God was illiterate and invisible!
