Find someone you know in each service and talk to them. Tell them to be honest and tell you what they don't like, because they'll almost certainly jump to tell you what they do. And remember that every service makes fun of every other service.
Yes, the Marines are the best service. But SEALs are superior to any other unit out there. BE WARNED! These are not easy jobs! The training is difficult, the lifestyle is dangerous, but the rewards are huge. They will change you for life, for the better, if you let them. The camaraderie and esprit de corps make them a brotherhood that you will never leave and will give you a sense of pride that I promise none of your peers can carry.
If you're just looking for some training before you get out, you might want to stick with the Navy or Air Force. As others said, the AF tends to provide more specialized training, while Navy training will give you a wider area of expertise. Also, the Coast Guard provides similar training to the Navy, if that lifestyle would appeal to you more. And don't ignore the possibility of being an officer.
What it comes down to is picking the service that best suits your personality and goals. What's right for someone else won't be right for you.

You can find training for all of these careers in any branch of the service. The Air Force seems to be more on the cutting edge of technology so if you want a high-tech career, try the Air Force. The Army is the least "prestigious" meaning once you've served your tours and are looking for a civilian job, having the Army on your resume will get you less money than having the Air Force.

I think you are on the right track but you might want to consider the Air Force also. They are both very technical and have jobs that translate to the civilian sector better.
I was in the Marine Corp and was an electronics technician (trained by the Navy) which I used to get a good job once I got out. The leadership traits and discipline I learned helped me to start my business and things are going very well. Without the Corp I would never have had the self-confidence to do so.
Do whats in your heart. Whether its the military or college. We all have different paths in life. Just try to make your dreams come true.

When you really start researching you will find that getting into the different branches have different restrictions. The army is the easiest to get into. I have family members who have served in every thing but the navy. Those that have stayed in to make it a career have been air force . Talk to the recruiters and find out what is best for you.

Air Force & Navy have more opportunities for training you can use after you get out of the military.
Army and/or Marines will have a greater possibility of being involved in armed conflict. Army & Marines offer more of a sense of commeraderie.

Marines, it provides better leadership skills in the outside world.
A Buddy of mine was a jet mechanic in the Air Force and now he's a cop like me because he couldn't find a job in that field.
Plus way would you want to be anything less than the best.

just got out of the navy. on that note the navy's schools are far better than any other branch. im not being bias because i don't like the military period. the airforce learns a small portion of a job while the navy learns the whole job. for instance i was an AE which stands for Aviation Electricans on the plane i worked on i work on ever component on that plane that had a wire.
my father was also an AE in the navy and than transferred to the airforce in a similar job field, and told me about it

At this time while at war--My advice is not to sign up at all. THe only place you will be going is Iraq. Find a job that can give you training. Electrical, Plumbing, contractor apprentice. Work your way up. If you want to be a mechanic--go to a local automobile repair shop--ask to be trained--sweep floors-what ever it takes. THats how you will get training and better wages than in the service.

well if you want to use your brain or work with planes= airforce ( other services say they are babied )
if you want to get into medicine or do time overseas every 6 months = navy
if you want helicoptors or use force or be a sharp shooter = marines ( other services say they are crazy)
if you want a big choice selection =army they do a little of it all.
( other services say they mess up a lot )

Go with Air Force! It uses the world's best aircraft to deliver the payload. Think of Zarqaui.
