You are 16 and your sister is 14. She wants to go to shopping with her friends without adult supervision & your parents don't let her because they fear of safety. The mall is 1/2 hour walk from your home. Your sister blame you for not trying to convince your parents to let her go. She says that "as a older sister, it's your responsibility to get the parents to give me more freedom than they do now. My friends' older sister always convince her parents to give her more freedom. If I had a little sister, I will convince the parents to give her more freedom, unlike you."
I think it is unreasonable because she shouldn't blame her older sister if her parents don't let her go shopping with her friends. It is not her fault that she can't go. Her sister wasn't the one that tell her that she can't go. So she should be the one to blame.

You're pretty wise and I say stick to your guns...your sister might think this is all so mean right now, however, it's far better to have her upset for a bit with you or/and your parents, rather than you and your parents being upset because she's gone missing.

She can only see "freedom", you and your parents want her to be able to have freedom, as soon as she is old enough to ensure that she won't get hurt or worse.

If she continues this "but the other big sister convinces the other parents" or tells you that you have a responsibility...you can let her know that yes indeed you do have a responsibility and that's to make sure that she is sticking to mom and dad's requirements otherwise the only responsibility you'll have is to report to mom and dad that she doesn't wish to adhere to their rules.

Others might be going off on their own but at least she will be safe because she has a family that cares about her.

Keep up the excellent work!
