Mix some white vinegar with an equal amount of water--- you don't need much, just a couple of tablespoons of each. Then use an ear-dropper or eye-dropper to put a few drops inside the ear that's causing the pain. Swimmer's ear is often really an infection in the outer part of the ear canal and white vinegar is very good at curing these infections. Do this two or three times a day for about a week and it should improve. If not, visit a doctor for some antibiotics to cure the infection.

Definitely take her to a doctor EVERY time there is a problem. There can be a genetic weakness, that runs in families leading to ear problems. If it happens a lot, she will constantly be on antibiotics or need "tubes" in her ears or both. In my own family, my son got a bad ear infection when he was 4 years old. the doctor didn't treat it aggressively enough. He developed one of the worst kinds of epilepsy you can get, with only about 20 seizures a day (some kids with that type have 200 seizures a day.) To make a long story short, he is fine now, outgrew it without any side effects or damage, and is a father now. Mt granddaughter also has ear problems.

Use equal parts of hydrogen peroxide, alcohol, and water - premixed in a small container. Drip it into the ear on a cotton ball, hold in ear for a moment, then let drain out. This is supposed to dry and disinfect the ear.

Most pharmacies (Walgreens, CVS) have products to help to get rid of swimmers ear that don't require a prescription. If those don't help I would definitely suggest going to the doctor.

Doctor is the first thing you should do. You can also put a drop of rubbing alcohol in her ears after each swim. Tilt her head to one side, put the drops in, wait about 5 seconds and then tilt head to other side.

a couple of drops of sweet oil, a hot water bottle, and a call to her pediatrician. The sweet oil and moist heat will help with the pain until your pediatrican can get her on an antibiotic. Good luck.
