I think yes. Don't forget that for the Chinese Taiwan is a rebel province (they consider Taiwan still part of the Chinese territory).
But I suppose that wont invade Taiwan in the next years, because they know that this would bring the world to an extreme situation.

I don't think so, but the relationship we have with them will most likely be strained. Who knows, it might be another Cold War.
P.S. Having read the news and listen to the opinion of my relatives living in Taiwan, the US won't back Taiwan if its attacks if Taiwan provokes it. And China says it'll attack Taiwan if it moves towards a democracy. Well, first, my statement is, through history and if I remember correctly, a lot of historians believe this, Taiwan doesn't belong to China. China doesn't see it that way though, so if it sees anything that looks like "a move away from the mainland", it'll attack Taiwan. Looking at the situation now, a lot of US politicians are skeptical of Taiwan's stance that they will not provoke a war. So if the event happens, which I hope doesn't, it depends if US politicians see the attack as a provocation or as an invasion (most likely they'll see it as a provocation).

No..or perhaps better stated...not unless China wants to become a parking lot. The number of declared nuclear warheads claimed by China is 130, repeat 130. The US declares a stockpile of 6,000-10,000 nukes plus more accurate delivery systems. Heck, the French are reported to have 350 nuclear weapons. Although even 1 nuclear detonation on American soil is unacceptable, the retaliation capability of the US vs China should give the government of China pause. But we are speaking of a government and culture different than our own.

Having lived in Taiwan, I think there won't be a need for a military takeover of Taiwan by China. The takeover is happening economically, and it's happening now. Also, Taiwan better not count on the US having its back. The US's allegiance is with the biggest markets, and mainland China has the biggest.

He never says anything about WWII in this article, nor does he blame the US in any way for using nuclear weapons to end that war. In fact, he says we will keep nuclear weapons as a deterrent but that his administration will make it a goal to rid the world of such weapons. Every President since Jimmy Carter has said that. Nothing in there even implies what you said, not even remotely.

China has stated a 'no first-use' policy in its nuclear weapon policy. In times of war, that policy may be thrown out the door, especially if they're on the ropes. The use of tactical nukes by either side could easily spiral to strategic weapons, no matter how 'controlled' the commanders on either side claim to be.

China is about to become a rather easy target for retaliation. They have dammed up one of their major rivers and the resulting lake will hold enough water to flood a major portion of their industrial output if it is attacked. China will soon be living in a glass house which may tend to mitigate their bellicosity.
