That is a surface view, more often than not social and economic factors and issues run just as deep as "religious" ones. Take Ireland for example. To see this as a problem of religion is to be ignorant of the historical, social and economic factors. What happened in Viet Nam was this religious ? Not to mention that north and south viet nam had been fighting each other for 600 years. WW2 Religious because they killed Jews, no , it was far more becuase of the socio-economic factors of the time and the ideas of Marx and Lennon and a fascist regime under the leadership of a charismatic lunatic combined with a lot of good men doing nothing But now the muslim Jihaad thing and the crusades... well who can argue this

We have not reached the Utopian society yet. Example: person A has one set of beliefs & person B has a different set of beliefs. They both feel so strongly that they are “right” and the only thing they can agree on is only one way is the right way to live (their way) then you’ll have inquisitions, witch hunts, and war. Once people like A & B take their heads out of the sand long enough to see that every individual has there own set of beliefs (that A’s beliefs aren’t an attack on B’s own beliefs and vise versa) we’ll be there. Not everyone has evolved enough yet to realize there is more than one way to live a spiritually productive, enriching, satisfying life.

The reason religon is behind most world strife is not because of the religon itself, it is because of the way a certain person interprets their religon. For example, the terrorist group "Al-Qaida", backs up what the do by saying its is "the will of Allah". In their minds it may be, but I know for a fact that many muslims are a shamed of themselves that people could even think about using their religon to back up the murders of innocent people. Hope i hav helped, i often think about how religon effects the world. Happy to share my opinon with others. :)

You have ask a valid question. Will you know the correct answer if someone gives it?

Because most religions are manmade, and man has a major ego problem, and he seems to think everyone should think and believe just like he does, and if they don't, they are all inferior and clueless. No one wants to respect and allow others to believe as they will. No one will give other people credit for figuring anything out for themselves. So, I guess if we assume we're superior in our belief system, that justifies our desire to control and exploit anyone who is different than us.

There are dozens of reasons, and in their own circumstances each is right. Primarily, it's because demagogues can utilize the power of ideology to inflame people with the power of faith to perform acts normally unconscionable to them (Abortion clinic bombings, suicide attacks, witch burning, crusades). The demagogues are into power... and the church (and I use that phrase to describe any centralized religious authority regardless of its belief) is a conduit to a large group of indoctrinated individuals who have traded their own free thought for dogma. And as anyone knows, you can teach an old dogma all sorts of new tricks...

Because the religious naturally avoid confronting reality, and thinking for themselves, are easily persuaded by propaganda, dogma, etc, and feel personally threatened by anything that challenges their own view of the world. So they are readily enlisted by people with their own axes to grind.

People need to believe - when that belief is questioned they need to blame someone. Most religion at its base is peaceful - man distorts it for gain.
