Just laugh at them, and tell them that you are a lot more evolved than them (which, by the way, it's true).

I'd say if you want to get ahead, just concentrate on your job and learn to tune comments out.

Sometimes people are ignorant, and sometimes they bond by making inaccurate, or stereotypical comments to bond even more so. Now, this happens with ALL races, ALL the time. If you find it too hard to work along this environment, learn to tune it out, or go to a supervisor, which in turn will either side with you ( alienating you further from co workers) by speaking out, or if immature will ALSO make bad comments about you, until these people drive you nuts.

I say if your job is worth it, learn to ignore, tune out, let it go. There are guidelines on how to behave at work, and even those really uptight on harassment are guilty of having this behaviors still deep within the trenches. It's not that people don't care, it's just that in every job, you will have ignorant jerks, in any race, who are negative and have issues, be miserable and try to soothe that with their BS.

Good Luck

you can say something. You can go to upper management and if they refuse to do anything or if they don't do enough contact :
http://www.eeoc.gov/
They will fix it and the employer is not allowed to retaliate against you or they will face stiff fines.

But seriously don't take it personal. thats just the way blacks are. They make the double-standard what it is today. Ignore it or report it to management. Those are the only choices you have.

I feel for you if you are in a situaiton that you have something to say and cannot. Just because other people are saying negative things do you really want to join that club? Say what you need to say and make sure it is true and you can back it up.

well if all they do is talk white people all day...why don't you ask for a raise since you're the only one that obviously gets any work done there?

not much you can do. The most you can do is either ignore it or say what you think is right, or just quit the job. I know that if I was in that situation I would also feel very uncomfortable.

keep a private record of what is said and by whom, and dates. When you have several instances, show your log to your supervisor. They can't fire you for that or they would face a law suit. Or get a new job, or just put up with it.
