Is it that each supermarket makes their own or are they made by 1 large company & labelled depending on which store they are to go to?

If it's like the rest of the food industry then yes.

Big brand companies use supermarket own brand work as a 'contribution' against their fixed costs. This means that it might not be as profitable but it is income that you wouldnt otherwise see.

The quality of the ingredients can be slightly lower and the packaging is often inferior. Although I have also seen the mass market producers make everything the same and just attach different labels or different coloured lids at the end of the line.

I'm afraid Jordans do lower themselves..... but the quality is exactly the same.

a lot of companies make products for supermarkets and have their own brands. very often there is little difference but some of the ingredients may be more expensive (eg honey v glucose syrup).
